Christian's POV – 10 December 2019

I should have known better than to believe that there's a rehabilitation program that lasts for this long. I should have known something was up, but each and every time I allowed myself to have those thoughts, I'd shut them down as soon as they made their way into my mind. I wanted to believe in the idea that my mother would change for Bella, change for me, but that belief is what led my reasoning astray. I had just learnt on my call with Bella that my mother was around, and I couldn't believe she hadn't told me. I couldn't even tell whether she would've told me if I didn't hear her unmistakable voice in the background during my call with my baby sister.

"I wonder what her excuse will be?" I question no one in particular, as I grab my jacket and make my way up the stairs, back into the kitchen.

"Oh, hey. That call sure as took long" Jenny jokes, adding a wink at the end. For what? Only she knows.

"Yeah, some family..." I pause, raking my head for a suitable word "...situation came up."

"And Andrew still has the nerve to deny the fact that you guys are meant to be" she says under her breath, but I heard each and every word that left her mouth.

"What does that mean?"

"Andrew's father called, said he wanted to see him for some meet..."

"Did he go?" I ask, cutting Jenny off. "I'm sorry for interrupting you, it's just that..."

"Its fine" she says, returning the favor by cutting me off. "He said he'll call if he's in some trouble, so don't you worry."

"I hope he doesn't call while I'm out."

"Are you going out?" she questions, cocking her eyebrow.

"Yeah, to meet my mother" I explain, as her shocked expression dissolves to one of concern very quickly.

"Okay, I hope everything turns out be fine." I just nod in response, as I make my way out of the house, hoping for the utmost best.

My mind was all over the place as I made my way to coffee shop my mother had agreed to meet me at. I kept wondering what her excuse of keeping her return a secret from rehab would be. I kept checking my cell every passing second, so as to ensure that if anything were to happen to Andrew, I'd be able to answer the phone as soon as it rings. God, if that man he calls a father even lays a finger on a single hair on his head, I don't know what I'm going to do to him, but all that I know is that it's not gonna be good.

I sigh as my feet come to a stop at Dixie's, dreading the fact that what awaits me on the other side may as well make or break me. Was she kicked out of the program for some weird reason? Did she escape from rehab? Is she even clean?

"Excuse me!" the lady behind me says rudely, before bumping her shoulder on me as she made her way inside the cozy shop, and I just sigh in disbelief, as I decide to follow suit and enter the shop.

The shop looked and smelt like how you would expect a coffee shop to. The smell of coffee, as well as freshly baked goodies made its way up my nostrils and I can't help but be reminded of the Christmas mornings I used to have when it was just my mother and I against the entire world. No Antonio. No troubles.

My body shivers at the sudden temperature change as the shop provided a lot of warmth compared to the cold weather outside, and I couldn't help but be grateful for it. I start to look around the shop, surveying the area trying to see my mother. My gaze runs over a few unfamiliar faces, before I spot her. In what used to be a favorite red coat. Well, the fact that she's wearing it means she still likes it but that's not the point.
