Andrew's POV – 20 September 2019 (Friday)
I turn around and glance at the clock, and sigh when I see that it reads 05h23. I've been tossing and turning for the whole night and I was hoping I still had a few more hours in bed, before I have to get up, but now it seems like the world is against me. In fact, I don't even know why I'm moved by this, because I haven't slept well for the past number of weeks. How would I sleep well when I still have no idea how Christian is doing? Well, I do know that he's still in hospital, all thanks to Pam constantly updating me.
I sigh again when I think about the unhealthy amounts of time that I spend with Pam, not because I want to, but because I don't have anybody else to spend my time with. I don't have any friends. Well in all honesty, I never had any real friends to begin with. Christian is the closest thing I've had to a friend and I threw that out the window. Heck, I miss him.
I roll of the bed and make my way to the steps, ascending to the door that leads to the kitchen. I stop in my tracks when I see the light from the kitchen seeping through the spaces around the door.
"That's odd" I say, thinking out loud. Aunt Jenny usually wakes up a bit after 6, and seeing the light on, is quite odd.
So, I continue walking up the stairs, with great caution in case there's a burglar in the house. I reach the top and pull the handle, opening the door very slowly, and look around.
Everything seems in place, until I see it. What is that, I wonder, as I get closer to the kitchen island. Oh, it's a note. I sigh in relief, and reach for the note, and some cash falls out.
I pick up the five dollar bills and place them on the counter, and read the note.
Guess who's finally legal?
Happy Birthday Andrew. I'm really sorry that I can't be here with you on your birthday, but something came up and I couldn't miss it. So I left this note and some money so you can get yourself a cake, or something nice since you're legal now *wink wink*.
I'll see you when I come back, and I better not find you sulking like you've been for the past few weeks.
Jenny loves you!
I can't help but smile at how these woman's words have the ability to brighten up my day, even if it's just for a few minutes. I mean, that's all I need to survive. After spending my entire 17 years of life, now 18 years, unhappy, tiny bits of happiness are enough to make my life worthwhile.
I just wish I had him to spend my day with.
I sigh once again, and head towards the bathroom to prepare for the day.

It's been a very long day, and I feel like screaming in joy when the bell finally rings, signaling the end of the school day. I drag myself off the chair and remove my book bag from the floor, and head out the door. I walk down the corridor, only to be stopped by a voice calling out.
"Andrew! Wait, Andrew!" the voice continues. Oh, it's Pamela.
"Hey Pamela" I greet.
"Don't hey me, why didn't you tell me your birthday is today? I would've gotten you something." Wait, I don't remember telling her that my birthday was today. "I can see that you're confused," she chuckles "Christian told me."
My eyes go wide at her words, "Christian?"
"Did I say she Christian? Oh, me and my big mouth," she laughs.
"What do you mean Pam?"
She diverts her gaze to the ground at my words, "Christian just mentioned in passing that it's your birthday, when he learnt what day it is today."
