Andrew's POV
The tension in the ward right now is as thick as a loaf of bread. Immediately when my parents, along with my grandmother entered, I felt the mood change and I must say I can't take it. Grandpa Pat was obviously ignoring them, and as weird as it sounds, that makes me so happy. Finally, the tables have turned on them.
"Gramps, I think I know what I have to do about the matter we discussed earlier" I say with a nod.
"Andrew, you can see..."
"Oh really?" Grandpa Pat asks, interrupting my mother mid-sentence.
"Yes" I say with a smile.
"Oh that's very good Young Man" he chuckles.
"Wait a minute. Are you ignoring us? We've been trying to talk to you for some time and you haven't been responding but you want to talk to him?" my mother questions, clearly shocked.
"I don't answer to you Abigail" he expresses seriously.
"I'm just asking because I genuinely don't know what we could've done so wrong that you don't want to talk to us..."
"And that's the problem with you and your husband. You see everyone's wrongs but not your own" he interrupts. Oh snap!
"Patrick, leave the child be. She's just concerned" my grandma interjects.
"Well, her son surely needs that concern more than me" he retorts.
"But Dad..."
"I'm really not interested in arguing" Grandpa Pat says in finality.
If the tension was thick before, I don't know what it's like right now.
"I think I'm going to head out now..." I say, only to get interrupted by the sound of my father's voice.
"Where to?" he asks seriously.
"Uhm-uh I'm gonna go to a friend's house" I stutter "for homework" I add.
"And who's supposed to take you there?" he questions.
"I think the boy is old enough to see himself out" my grandpa interjects, staring at my father with the same intensity my father was giving me. Goodness, even on his death bed, this man still went out of his way to stand up for me. "You can leave Andrew" he says, giving me a small smile.
"Thank you, Gramps. Good luck with the surgery" I state, giving him a nod.
"I don't need luck Boy, just promise you'll do the right things."
"I promise, Pops. I promise."

After pondering on the plan I had for hours, I knew it was the right thing to do. I had requested a ride back home and drove myself to the mall, while I waited for afterschool. Once I started to see a few familiar faces from school, I knew it was time to put my plan into execution.
So, I exit the mall, walking towards the parking lot when something catches my eye. Well, in this case someone.
"Yo Jeremy!" I yell from across the parking lot. He turns around when he hears my voice, not missing how his face twisted when he realized I was calling him. What's wrong with him?
"Hey Bro, what are you doing here?" I question, as I get closer to him.
"Uh-I just wanted to come to the..."
"Jeremy, who are you talk..."Olivia stops in her tracks when she sees me. Wait, did they come to the mall together? What the hell.
"Oh hey babe, why weren't you at school today?" she asks, shock still evident in her eyes.
