Jin has been quiet company. Jimin and Y/n are keeping a close eye on him, but even then he seems perfectly natural. He's not worried even a little bit. How is that possible? Even the trained killers are worried but the husband of the most powerful man in New York doesn't feel a lick of fear. Or maybe he does and he's just not showing weakness around others. Either way, Jimin's put on edge thanks to Jin's presence.

Having to protect this man means that there's an even bigger target on Jimin and Y/n's back. Of course he doesn't mind since Mr. Kim protected them and it's only fair, but it doesn't make this whole 'bodyguard' thing any easier. Walking through a forest for several days isn't how he expected his week to go.

It's been four days since they picked up Jin, constant walking and camping out has been the agenda. They've come across no one yet. Nothing. No Mr. Jeon or Mr. Jung. The dogs have been quiet too, clearly just in their own world. Even Y/n's been quiet. This sucks, he wants to just take her on a bunch of dates.

Jimin lets out a breath, brushing a strand of his long hair out of his eyes. It's getting longer by the day. In the madness that has been these past two months, Jimin didn't get it cut at all. His hair grows extremely fast, so he's already down to the lobes of his ears by now.

Deep down he has a plan. He doesn't want to emigrate, and he knows Y/n would rather die than leave her home. They'll die trying to stay here, and they'll be fine with that. It's an honorable way to go. Jimin wouldn't complain, as long as he dies alongside his lover.

"So does anyone want to tell me the plan?" Jin asks, bringing Jimin out of his thoughts. Y/n gives Jimin's hand a squeeze as they slow their pace, looking over their shoulder at Jin.

"I thought you knew the plan. Get to Canada, get you a new identity, new citizenship, new everything. I know a guy who can help you out," Jimin explains.

"Okay slow down: get 'me' a new identity? Just me? What about you two?" Jin asks, looking between the couple. Y/n gives Jimin an uneasy stare, unsure of if they should tell him or not. Jimin's plan is shared between the two, even if they've never verbally talked about it. They can't leave New York. Well, they're actually already out of New York, but they can't move is what he means.

They're in Vermont, hoping to slip through the border and get to Montreal. Seems up Jin's alley. Dramatic, just like him. Something interesting about Vermont: it's cold. It's very cold. Jimin has been huddled next to Y/n all this time not just because he loves her but to stay warm too.

"For now, you're our top priority. Whether we stay or go somewhere else isn't your concern," Y/n replies, Jimin humming in agreement. Good answer. "We don't mean to be hostile, it's just the truth. We don't know what we're doing yet, and until we fulfill Mr. Kim's favor, we're not worried about us."

Jin seems unconvinced but nods nonetheless. He's not really in a position to be arguing, and Jimin respects that he knows that. Regardless, they go back to their quiet selves. It's a nice day all things considered, the nature of Vermont absolutely breathtaking. The dogs are enjoying it a lot, which brings Jimin happiness.

"Do you think they'll find us?" Y/n mutters. That's surprising from her. Jimin thought Jin would be the one with those questions.

"They haven't found us yet, I doubt they will now. We've been careful not to leave tracks. Have you noticed anyone following us?"

"That's just it Min, I don't know," she softly replies, keeping her eyes on the ground.

Jimin sighs, turning to look at Jin. "Take five? We've been walking for a couple hours now." Jin picks up on what Jimin's really saying and nods, walking off to the trees out of earshot but still in eyesight. Jimin looks at Y/n as they slow to a stop, placing his free hand on her cheek.

"Hey, listen. We're gonna be okay. I promise," he says.

"It's not that Min, I'm just... mad. Wait no. Exhausted? Both? I don't even know what I'm feeling right now. It's like I want to fight for New York, for our home, but I don't want to die. At the same time, I don't want to leave America, I like it here all things considered. I don't want to be fighting for the rest of my life. I thought I loved it..." She lets out a long sigh. "Then I met you and realized I don't want to be alone anymore. I don't want to be a spy anymore. I want to be with you."

"Like a dynamic duo?" he asks with a chuckle.

Y/n cracks a smile. "Exactly. A dynamic duo where we go around having fun. Have sex in the room, build our home with more love and photos. Play with our dogs." She motions to the three German Shepherds who are peacefully lying in the grass. "They're our angels. In a way, I see them like our children. I want to fight for this. For our home, our little family."

"Then that's exactly what we'll do," Jimin instantly replies, "okay? We'll fight, and we'll win. We can do anything as long as we're together, I truly believe that baby girl. Really, I do."

She keeps her smile on her face. "I love you."

"I love you too," he whispers, kissing her lips for a few moments. When they part, Jimin lets out a sigh. "As soon as we make sure he's safe..."

"We'll come back. We'll go to the house and wait for them to come for us. It's only a matter of time now Min," she says, shaking her head. He gives her a hand a squeeze.

"Then let's show them hell."
