Throwing his head back to empty the shot glass contents into his mouth, he basked in the burning sensation that consumed his throat. It didn't pain him, it rather made him feel good, pleased him to feel that sting due to the alcohol running through his system.
"Give me another shot of Vodka." He demanded, once slamming the glass back down onto the bar. He was the only one there, aside from the female bartender due to him clearing out the premises with the authority he had to do such. He didn't want anyone else there to bother him or to be surrounding him, needing time to drink away everything going through his head.
"Coming right up." The bartender mumbled, clearly annoyed and tired from the fact that she had to be there after hours to serve a man she didn't even know. Chris simply watched her, taking in her every step to ensure what she was doing wasn't in an attempt of hurting him. He didn't trust anybody, not a soul after the things he now knew.
Hearing the door opening just as his shot glass was slid in his direction, Chris glanced to the right of him to see Maleah entering into the bar. Her attention went straight to the girl who let out a sigh of relief while gathering her things to go. Chris wasn't sure where she was going since he hadn't dismissed her presence, but he didn't feel like saying anything. Not with Maleah there especially, since he wouldn't want her thinking something of him that wasn't true.
"Chris..." She spoke just above a whisper once hesitantly approaching him. She'd never seen him like this, drinking so heavily in the manner that he was. She wasn't sure if he was blacked out, or just couldn't hear her from the lack of acknowledgment he allowed in her direction, but it scared Maleah.
His mental issues were no secret to her, but the fact that he was closing himself off in the way that he was seemed like it was a bad thing. She didn't know how to treat the things he had, which she mentally cursed herself out for since she knew she should've done deep diving research as soon as she found out she would be bringing his child into the world.
"Alright well if you don't want to talk then that's okay, I won't pressure you but-."
"I killed him." He cut her off, his eyes never lifting to stare down at his hands that sat clasped together in front of him. Swallowing down hard, Maleah felt as though her throat was beginning to grow dry from his confession, her stomach dropping to her ass at the mention.
It wasn't because he said he killed someone, since she knew he probably had a couple bodies due to his past and the fact he was a police officer. But it was the grin that followed after the fact which terrified her, letting her know this wasn't just an "in the moment" or "on the job" type of thing. Whoever it was that ended up losing their life at the hands of him was clearly beyond an intentional act that was rooted in anger he couldn't control.
