Taking a slow inhale from his blunt, Chris' eyes scanned the city under him. The bright lights from all the other leveled sky rise buildings, along with the lights that illuminated the streets. He stood in his lonesome, allowing his thoughts to roam his head in one of those rare times he had a moment to himself. Even though he hated these times, considering there was only thing that occupied his mind- or rather one person who was always at the front of his head.

He didn't think she was serious when she said she was done, expected her to come to what he believed would be her "senses" and double back. Thought she would eventually realize that she couldn't do without him and advance back on her own...but she didn't. He tried everything, but with every try also came yet another fuck up due to her turning him down after each attempt. His temper and bruised ego not being enough to hold him back from adding more salt to the already deep wound. She hated him, vocalized it time and time again, but he didn't believe her. Or rather just chose not to listen, since the truth would only damage his own mental space.

Exhaling the smoke that filled his mouth up towards the sky, Chris grasped onto the railing of the balcony he stood behind tightly. He missed her. Would he admit it openly? Absolutely not, acting as though he wasn't fazed until it was just him and his head.

"Baby, you okay?" Turning his head at the female voice approaching him from behind, Chris slowly nodded his head while turning back. He could feel her presence approaching behind him, he didn't want to have her near him right now, but he didn't feel like dealing with the tantrum she would have if he vocalized that. Tapping his nail against the railing, he felt her body wrap around his from behind with her head resting on his back. "You don't seem like you're okay..."

"I said I'm good Mia." He mumbled, trying his hardest not to snap on her although he found himself doing that most of the time. In the beginning it was a lot easier to mask his feelings because he was still convincing himself that Maleah meant nothing to him. But as time went on and that delusion faded, he realized a lot more that it would've been easier to just be honest with himself from the beginning. But clearly it seemed to be too late.

"I hope you're not still thinking about that girl and that baby-."

"I will choke you the fuck out if you don't get from me, I'm so serious." He never raised his voice an octave, because he knew the threat alone would've scared her.

He wasn't abusive, not physically at least. But his words were enough to do almost as much damage, if not more. Anything he said went when it came to Mia, but he wasn't just an asshole to her all the time. Just times when he had to think of the fact that he didn't have Maleah anymore considering she was off with another man that he so badly wanted to kill. But he couldn't do so, knowing it would only make her hate him even more which he didn't want.
