In Another Life, Right, Partner?

"It's us against the world, Dazai."

"It always has been, Chuuya."

"You promise we'll never leave eachother's side, right?

"I know, but I wouldn't mind spending it by your side, Chuuya."

"Don't say such sappy words like that, Bastard!"

"Eh~? Chuuya, you know what you were getting into when you said yes to me."

"Well maybe I should have said no, I would've loved to see the look on your face!"

"That's just mean Chuuya, I even spent all my money on our rings! Especially the amount of time and confidence I spent to propose to you."

"Not my fault you couldn't man up."

"Hey! I was the one that proposed , not you!"

Why was Chuuya even surprised at what he saw? Why was he surprised that he and Dazai would die during a mission, that they would go down doing what they were both made for? Why would he be surprised at the sight of Dazai bleeding next to him, whispering sweet nothings to him? Why would he be surprised that Dazai was smiling, locking him into a soft kiss, as they were both slowly slipping away?

Just, why would he of all people be surprised?

He could feel Dazai's breath against his neck, he held his hand, as tight as he could. Chuuya's body felt numb, he couldn't feel the morbid pain of his own body, He could only laugh weakly as Dazai made little jokes.

He could only smile as the his and Dazai's tears poured down onto the ground, Chuuya talked to Dazai, and Dazai talked to him.

"We've done it all, Everything," Dazai smiled at Chuuya, "On our own."

Chuuya scoffed as a reply, "That's how it's always been, Osamu."

"Chuuya,"
The ginger looked at him, waiting for him to say something.

"Do you remember the song I played at our wedding?"

"Yeah," Chuuya gasped, "Don't you dare, 'Samu-"

Dazai hummed the starting sound of the song,

"Merrily we fall out of line, Out of line, I'd fall anywhere with you, I'm by your side
Dancing in the rain, humming melodies,
We're not going anywhere until we freeze"

Chuuya sang with him, the joy he and Dazai felt so many years ago that day, the nostalgia he felt, it almost felt as if they were reliving it, They sang it together for the rest of it.

"Chuuya, do you promise to be with me in the next life? In every life where we be reborn?"

"Yes."

"Do you promise to love me, even when you hate me?"

"I do."

Dazai placed his head on Chuuya's shoulder, Chuuya put his on Dazai's head, head tilting just a little bit to reach the brunette's. The sun was rising at that point, The ADA nor PM could find them, it was impossible for them to, Even if they did, They'd be dead by the time they do.

Fyodor's body was just at least 50 feet away, Dazai placed a random flower he picked while crawling to Chuuya and placed it on Fyodor's chest. Yes, he was the enemy, defeated, even, but he was as humane as Dazai and Chuuya, Fyodor still felt, Fyodor still cared, Fyodor still loved.

Dazai did spend time with him, Dazai hated him but he and Fyodor would've made good friends, if he wasn't the sworn enemy that vowed to kill every ability user.

Maybe in the next lifetime, They could befriend him.

Dazai and Chuuya had regrets and mistakes, but they were content with life. Although, they would appreciate a chance to fix things, they'd take that chance anytime.

Dazai was slipping away now, His eyes closed and he couldn't breathe anymore. "I love you, Chuuya." Dazai pulled Chuuya into a soft, sickly sweet, but heartbreakingly weak kiss.

Chuuya didn't say I love you, he had no intention to, purely because it wasn't necessary. He'd just say I love you back to Dazai the next time he sees them, He's sure he'll feel the nostalgia he felt when he first saw Dazai, almost as if they had a life before this one.

Maybe they did, who knows?

Chuuya hugged Dazai's body, he didn't need to cry, or mourn. He didn't want to. Dazai keeps his promises, If he promises they'll meet in the next life, Then they will—

If they were separated, The world would always find a way to bring them back together.
