3:00 p.mAs promised to Austin, I finish my work as early as possible without getting distracted and head back to home.
While parking the car, I notice my mom's car parked infront of the house and I hurry out of my car after parking it, heading inside the house. As soon as I enter, I see my parents sitting on the new couch.
"What happened to your phone? Why weren't you picking the call?" Mom gets angry as soon as she catches my sight which makes me huff under my breath.
I take my phone out from my tote bag and find many missed calls from mom, dad, John and Austin. I find some messages sent by Austin but I couldn't read them yet, now that my parents have my attention. Gosh, it would've been better if I had got distracted.
"I'm sorry, I kept it on silent because of work." I apologise as I enter the living room.
"You're caught." Dad says with a disappointed face which makes my heartbeats go faster than it already was. What did I get caught on? Jesus, save me.
"What?" I ask laughing nervously. "Caught on what?"
"How many times do you want me to tell you to stop working on Sundays? Didn't you promise me you would stop that? Stop overworking yourself and my employees." Mom starts nagging at me which makes me relieved. It wasn't about our fake marriage after all.
"I missed your nagging but I would appreciate if you would stop it." I say, sitting on the new couch beside dad. "And they're not your employees anymore, they're mine."
"Whatever," she shrugs and rolls her eyes. "If you keep doing this, I'm taking my company back from you." She must be kidding. She has no idea what I'm going through to keep this company with me.
"Fine. This won't happen ever again." I sulk at her.
"Stop it, honey. You're seeing her after so many days. Be nice." I smile at him, as he takes my side. He looks at me, "How's your married life?" I still keep my smile to save myself and Austin. I'd rather get nagged at than talk about my married life.
"Well, it's great." I lie happily.
"Nice to hear." He says brushing his fingers on my hair while showing his best genuine smile that warms my heart. "Don't overwork yourself and give more attention to Austin too, okay?" I nod, smiling but soon guilt overwhelms me.
"Where is Austin?" I ask them and in no time, Austin comes downstairs with John.
"Speaking of the dev-" Dad stops his words as soon as mom hits him on the chest.
"Don't call my sons like that." She glares at him. It's scary how they are getting attached to Austin so much because we won't last.
"I'm sorry." He smiles at her even after getting hit by her on the chest. I look at Austin and as soon as we make eye contact, he smiles at me dearly which makes me feel warm and I smile back. John snaps his finger in front of my face making me look at him, realising that Austin and I had been smiling at each other for long seconds.
"What do you use your phone for?" He pulls me off the couch to sit beside dad. He's lucky that I am not in the mood to pull his hair and take that seat back. "Do you have any idea how many times we called you?"
"I'm sorry." I say in a tired tone.
"Iris, go freshen up soon." My mom nags at me yet again and John mocks me by repeating her words.
"Tch." I ignore him making a face at him to which he throws a couch pillow on me but before it could've hit on my face, Austin catches it and gets all of us silent by his action. We both stare at each other until mom breaks the silence.
