Tink:
"Hey babe," I sigh, as Peter picks up the phone. "Hey," Peter says. "So I just got to the Motel but while I was in the car, Sam called." "What did he call about?" "He said that you and Rose were fighting. Is everything okay?" "Yeah. Everything is fine," he answers, I can hear panting in the background. "So who are you with?" I ask. "Bobby. We were just punching the shit out of some dummies," Peter says. "Hi Tink. Can't wait to see you when you get back," Bobby says into the phone. "Are you okay Peter? You usually don't punch things and fight with Rose," I ask again. "Later okay, focus on the job and get home. I love you," he says, he sounds angry, and not just angry, he sounds pretty pissed.
"Whatever Peter," I say, hanging up. "Is everything okay?" Jace asks. "No, apparently not. What are we dealing with?" I ask. "Routine salt and burn. Problem is, it could be a variety of different people that are dead. It's the hotel up the road and a lot of people have been murdered there," Jace says, showing me his laptop. "Okay, hit it up in the morning?" I ask, laying back in my bed. "Sure," he nods with a look of understanding. "I hate relationships," I groan. "I dont have your unluck with these sort of things. You know, with my godly good looks and great personality," he jokes.
"Toss me my bag," I say, at the same time my phone rings. "Did he tell you?" Sam asks. "No he didn't," I sigh, catching my bag out of the air. "He wants to join the army after your wedding." I hear Rose scream Sam's name. I drop the phone but hear her voice still. "He was going to tell you when you got back Tink, I swear!" Rose yells. "Its okay guys, I just don't know what to say," I say before hanging up. I feel the tears come and storm into the bath room. "Tink, what happened?" Jace asks through the door. "I don't want to talk about it," I sob.
"Hi Peter. No it's not Tink. Yes I am using her phone. Sam told her you were joining the army. Do you know what that send her into? She is sobbing in the bathroom. It sounds damn painful. You wanna hear her jackass?" Jace yells into the phone. I can hear the cell phone hit the door. "That's your fiance, breaking down and not doing a thing to stop me from yelling at you. Peter, we just lost Nathan, going and putting yourself in a battlefield isn't helping her situation. If she lost you, she'd freaking die. You and I both know that. Tink is practically dying just thinking about it. Crap, it's hurting her so bad I'm starting to feel it," Jace says before I come out of the bathroom. "Here she is," Jace says, handing me the phone.
"Hi," I say, sniffling. "I'm sorry. I planned on sitting down and having a civil conversation with you about this but Sam had other ideas," Peter says. "Peter, I, it just took me by surprise. You out there, up to your neck in camo, only home occasionally, it just hit me right in the gut. We can talk when I come back," I say. I hang up and lay back in bed. "Like I said, I hate relationships," I sigh, messing with the strings of my pj pants.
I lay down and just let the tears fall. "If you need to sleep over here, I'm okay with that," Jace says, climbing under his own covers and turning the lights out. "I'll be fine," I say, lying through my teeth and I know that Jace knows it.
