Rose:
After talking to Jace this morning I retreated to my room and computer where I poured my heart out to Bella, and she surprisingly told me she’d be here in a couple of hours.
So I waited, ignoring the knocks on my door from Jace and Logan. All I wanted to do was talk to another girl and tink hadn’t stopped by so Bella it was.
Finally I heard her being dropped off and she ran to my room. “Are you okay? I couldn’t tell if you were crying over the computer, are you okay?” she asked barely taking a breath and I gave her a small smile. “No tears. I want to cry, it feels like my heart it trying to eat up my stomach with the need of it but I already cried all of my tears.” I finished, sighing. And she set her bag down on the floor before coming over and hugging me. “I’m so sorry.” I reached over and grabbed the picture of him and I at the fair one year, both of us laughing and I handed it to her. “That’s him.” I said simply.
Bella looked at it, “You both looked so happy.” “We were.” I replied, grabbed a pillow and hugging it, she sighed. “No, since I’m going to be here for a day or so I am not going to let you be sad. We are going to watch cheesy rom-coms on the Hallmark Channel and eat ice cream.” She grabbed my arm and pulled me up. “Where’s the fridge in this place? There had to be some ice cream.” she said pulling me out of my room and I pointed her to the kitchen where Logan and Jace were sitting and talking in low voices.
Probably talking about me I assume, but I couldn’t worry about that right now. I had to at least try and act like I was doing okay, like that brief time of crying had magically cured me of losing my best friend of dying and not seeing him until I die. And I never would know when that was.
“Jace, you’ve already met Bella.” I said to him and he nodded, then i looked at Logan, “Well, Bella, Logan. Logan, Bella. Now is there any ice-cream? I’m going to be dragged into watching rom-coms and will be in desperate need of it.” Logan nodded, “Yeah there’s only chocolate though.” Bella grinned, “That’s good enough for me.” She ran over to the fridge, grabbed two spoons and ran off again. I was about to follow her when Jace grabbed my wrist. “You okay?” “I don’t think you’d believe me if I said I was.” I replied simply before running after my friend.
When we got back into my room we turned on the t.v. and she flipped to the Hallmark Channel as promised and we watched all of the cheesy movies you could think of when tink stopped by briefly. I tried to at least play off like the t.v. had put all of my thoughts off for now and it seemed to work.
I didn’t like worrying my friends, even when we’ve been through so much, I just had trouble with opening up.
Bella told me about her boyfriend Tyler and the awkwardness when they almost got down and dirty. “I swear dad was about to burst a fuse!” she exclaimed laughing and I found myself laughing too. “I can see that, he is a bit protective.” I agreed and she nodded, eating the rest of the ice-cream.
Suddenly she got quiet. “This is nice, I wish you lived closer.” she said and I nodded, “I wish you were closer too. I love Tink but it’s not the same.” “I have nobody my age in the bunker and there’s all this drama about my dad’s ex coming back to life, etc, etc.”
Then she proceeded to go into detail about her and her aunt coming up from where they lived because of that and how she was worried about her and her uncle too. Her phone rang and she sighed, “And there is the aunt.” she sighed and hugged me. “I have to go.” “I’ll see you out.” I told her, standing up and stretching.
