Rose:
Let me explain how things went before Tink got there, I’ll start from after she stopped giving me the talk. Which actually wasn’t as long as I’d thought it’d be.
After Tink and Peter left Logan came in and I sighed, “You gonna give me the talk too?”
Jace, I could deal with that, Tink I could deal with that, then Peter came in and at that moment in time I was about done with the “You-Aren’t-Worthless” shpiel.
Thank the gods Logan shook his head, “Nope, I overheard everyone, I think you’ve heard quite enough. Anyway, I have to go to the store to grab some beer, just wanted to tell you.” I nodded and smiled. “See you later.” As he turned and walked out again I could swear he muttered, “Sure hope so.” I gave a small laugh and went over to grab a book.
For most demigods, reading was difficult because our brains are hardwired for Ancient Greek or something along those lines. For some odd reason though, I was able to read both English and Ancient Greek just fine.
I picked up an old book I hadn’t read in ages, “Charlie Bone” and plopped on the bed.
Not sure how much time passed but it felt like only an hour. “What are you doing?” Jace asked from the doorway as he walked over and made a gesture for me to scoot over and I did. Then he lied down beside me and glanced at my book, “Charlie Bone? Isn’t that a kids book?” he asked, raising an eyebrow. “No. Technically it’s a middle school book.” I retorted, rolling my eyes. He laughed, “Okay Ms. Technicalities.”
We read for a little more time before he said, “Are you doing better?” “I honestly have no idea what I’m supposed to be feeling anymore. It’s like I feel one thing then in my head I feel the exact opposite and it.” I explained with a sigh, setting the book down and staring at the ceiling. He put an arm around me, “Like how?”
What should I tell him about? I wondered for a moment before settling on one.
“On the train. I was so happy to see you, it let me know that you still cared but at the same time I didn’t want to hurt you further. I felt like I was more trouble than I was worth and I should just get a move on out of your life and spare the pain of the future.” I told him with a shrug, and he gave me a small smile. “Those are two very opposing feelings. There anything you can settle on in that contradicting mind of yours?” “I think I can settle on one thing.” I concluded to him and he tucked a piece of my hair behind my ear. Then he gave a mischievous smirk. “Oh, and that is?” “I am completely, involuntarily, and utterly in love with you.” I told him as I kissed him, him wrapping his arms around me, pulling me closer.
He looked at me, whispered, “Anything else?”
We were so close it was driving me crazy, his voice, his eyes, everything. I don’t think my voice would’ve worked even if I knew how to reply to him so I just kissed him again. He hand found my hair and mine found his back.
His phone rang and I took gave a breathless laugh. “Aren’t you going to answer that?” I asked, still fighting for breath. He raised an eyebrow, “Are you kidding? Of course not?”
He kissed me again, and I had no idea what I was supposed to do but I wasn’t complaining either.
“Knock, knock.” Tink’s voice says from the doorway and I stop. “Oh I’m either calling dad to give you the talk or I am.” she says, laughing and I turn bright red, trying to get a little distance between Jace and I.
Embarrassed wasn’t a good enough word. Mortified was a better one for my case.
“Nothing was happening!” I say, turning bright red. “Honey, that wasn’t nothing. It’s three-thirty in the morning. Jace go to bed. In your own bed.” she clarifies.
Three-thirty? God it only felt like eight. Jace got up and I saw his hair, oh dear gods in high Olympus above he had sex hair. This looks really bad. He frowned at Tink, “I’m assuming you were calling.” “Mhm, bed now.” she replied, crossing her arms. Jace rolled his eyes and walked out.
He stopped at the door and looked at me, winked, and said, “Night, love.” I blushed harder and looked at the floor. Jace laughed and walked across the hall to his room before I heard the door shut.
“I didn’t know it was three in the morning.” I said, biting my lip. Tink laughed, “Really?” “I was reading and lost track of time then he came in and we were talking, one thing led to another and-” I sighed and put my face in my hands. “Seriously, please don’t give the talk to me though. I already know it, it’s mandatory at the Academy as I’m sure you know.” Tink laughed and walked over, “Fair enough. You’re spared for today but don’t do something like that again until you’re married.”
I frowned at her, “You weren’t married before you did it.”
“Totally different.”
“Not really Tink, I’m not sure you’re qualified for ‘the talk’.”
“You want me to go get Logan?”
“No!”
“Then you’d be lucky to have ‘the talk’ with me.”
I rolled my eyes and she laughed, “Anyway, I have to talk to your boyfriend. I can’t help but feel like something’s up. That’s why I called.” “What do you mean?” I asked her, sitting up, and straightening up my bed a little. She shrugged, “Just a feeling I get sometimes. Maybe it’s nothing but I don’t know.” Tink got up and smiled, “It’ll be okay though, don’t worry. Go to bed Rose.”
With that she left and I sighed, wondering if she was right. What if something was up. Since it wasn’t good for me to be using the phone I went and grabbed my computer from the other side of the room and typed in Sam’s email.
Hey Sam.
This is Rose by the way. Tink said something may be up, like a feeling she got. We aren’t sure if it’s true yet but you should probably stay in the area in case things go south and she’d right.
Thanks!
I sent the email and shut it back down again.
