Rose:
(I’ll explain what happened pre-Tink calling us while she was on the elevator with Peter, just to clear things up.)
Jace was practically laying on top of me, but not in his normal Jace-like way. His eyes were closed and he seemed peaceful. I reached up and played with his hair.
“I think I should get hangovers more often...you normally don’t do stuff like this.” he muttered, with his eyes still closed, and I rolled my eyes, “Come on, I don’t want to see you drunk all the time just so I’ll play with your hair.”
“But it’s nice…” he muttered, opening one eye and I smiled, “Thanks, if you want, I’ll play with your hair more often. No getting drunk though.” “Fine.” he muttered. This was a nice change, though I didn’t want it all the time.
I kissed the top of his blond head and he smiled, then I whispered, “You’re tired, you should go to sleep.” He opened both eyes now, “But you’re being so nice, I don’t think I want to.” he sat up, seeming now to be getting over the hangover.
“Really?” I asked with a playful smirk (and yes, that was a flirty smirk.) He then rolled over and propped himself up on his elbow.
Outside, the sun was setting through the window, lighting up Jace’s hair, making it turn a light shade of pink. His blue eyes looked at me.
“Mhm.” he hummed back, locking eyes with me.
He leaned over and kissed me, “I think you can tell why?” he said in a deep voice in between kisses, and i laughed, “I think I’m starting to figure out.” I whispered, my heart hammering.
He pulled me closer to him, kissing me harder. “Maybe I should take a page out of Peter’s book.”
Now, I guess you’re wondering why I wasn’t stopping him. But seriously, it could be worse, and I loved him. Right now it felt like there was this pit in my stomach that only he could fill. Sounds cliche, I know, but that’s what it felt like.
Then Jace’s phone rang.
“Dammit.” both he and i said at the same time, and I laughed. He on the other hand wasn’t amused by this phone call, he picked it up. “Can this wait until morning?” he asked…
(Now we’re skipping to after when she last called)
We were at the Thorn, making a living room for Tink and Peter, they’re old one was terribly done and I swear, the dirt seemed to be attracted to the dirt in it.
So we were fixing it up, and by we I mean Jean, Logan, Jace and I.
“Hand me that green.” Logan said from the latter, as he felt the paintbrush in one hand. Jean ran over to help him and Jace looked at me, “Want to go get the rug with me, it’s in the car.” I nodded, practically dying for the chance to be with him alone.
Last night after Tink called, Logan decided to stop by and separate us, then I accidently slept in. Shortly after I ate, we were off to this place to go fix it up for the happy couple before they returned from their honeymoon.
We ran out to the car and opened the trunk, he slid up beside me. “So last night…” he started and I nodded, “Yeah...um...let’s just get the rug…” I said.
Why am I being so awkward!? A moment ago I wanted to see him, now I’m stumbling over the words! I thought frantically to myself as i tried to put on a calm face to mask my train of thought.
Jace helped me by grabbing the other end of the rug. His face was unreadable, but by no means was the cheerful face he’d had on just a moment ago.
We walked up the stairs with the rug in silence.
GODS I’M STUPID! I wanted to scream, but I bit my tongue, saying that would probably be worse than being silent.
“There you two are, I was beginning to wonder where you two went off to.” Jean teased and I set down my end of the rug, “Oh..yeah, sorry, we just went to get this rug.” I told her, and she stole glances at the two of us and seemed to come to a conclusion. “Hey Logan, I’m hungry, can you go grab us some food?” she asked and he raised an eyebrow, “I asked you ten minutes ago if you were hungry.” “Well I wasn’t hungry then.” she replied back, crossing her arms.
“Fine.” he replied, setting down the paintbrush and climbing down from the latter. “I’ll be back in around twenty minutes.”
He left after that, and gave Jace the “I’m-Watching-You” gesture with his two fingers before walking out.
Jean then looked at us with her two arms crossed. “Now what happened to you two?” I looked up at her, “Huh? Nothing.” She rolled her eyes, smart woman. I thought, and realized she knew something was up. Jace looked at the ground. “She’s practically ignoring the fact that something big happened last night.” Jean’s eyes widened and she let her arms drop. “You two didn’t do it did you?” “No!” I exclaimed, glaring at Jace through the corners of my eyes. He shrugged, “No, I just think she actually realized she’s in love with me.”
“I’ve already told you I love you!” I exclaimed, turning to look at him. He sighed, “To be honest, it never really seemed like you meant it. I knew for a fact you liked me, but on the matter of loving me, that was a completely different story.”
I couldn’t believe he was saying this. “Seriously?! Just because I am awkward at admitting the fact that I do doesn’t mean-” I started then I groaned, how in the heck was I going to get myself out of this one.
“I do love you Jace. Okay? I thought you’d have realized that by now.” I said, staring at the ground in defeat and tucking my brown hair behind my ears. “You do?” he asked and I frowned, “Yes! But I’m not gonna write you a love ballad if that’s what you’re expecting.” I grumbled and he took a step closer to me, “Then look at me when you say it.” he said, and I looked at him. “You’re being extremely aggravating right now.” I told him. He laughed and hugged me, “I know, now, say it.” “Just because you’re hugging me does not mean-” he cut me off with a kiss and and sighed.
“Now, what do you say?” he asked once more and I sighed, “I love you.” he grinned, “There you go, I believe you know.”
“Awesome, everything’s fixed between you two, and Logan will be back in a little bit to bring food. All’s well that ends well.” she said happily, smiling at us. She unrolled the rug and sat on top of it. “The room’s coming along nicely.” I commented and she smiled, “Two two helped, all I’ve been doing is supervising.” she said with a wink in our direction.
Logan came back fifteen minutes later, carrying two armfuls of food. “We got Chick-Fil-A!” he said with a huge grin on his face. “Please tell me you have the Chick-Fil-A sauce.” I said, walking over to him and he nodded, “Course, what sort of father would I be if I didn’t.”
I wanted to say that he wasn’t my real dad, but then again, screw it. The one time I’ve actually heard from my dad was when he told me I was a daughter of Hermes. “Thanks.” I told him with a smile as I took the food over to the rug where Jean and Jace were.
“Please say you got me the Deluxe Chicken Sandwich.” Jace said, and I pulled out one, he jumped up and grinned, “Yes!” I rolled my eyes and grabbed my chicken sandwich while I left the rest for Jean and Logan.
All in all, it seemed like a good day.
“The room looks nice.” I commented, when we were fished at around five that evening. Jace put his arm around me, “That is does, but not as nice as you do.” “Stop flirting with me.” I replied back, trying to suppress a smile.
