Jennie wanted to tell him he was crazy. She kicked him in the leg without much thought and ran off quickly when he took a step back.

Jennie ran till she was far away before slowing down, breathless from the run. Her face was still burning, it was like she could still feel the warmth of his breath blowing on her forehead. Even that light fragrance on him seemed to be imprinted on her skin.

However, something discomforting crept into her thoughts in a sudden. Jennie again called him a hooligan in anger and stopped her random thoughts. She suddenly realized that she was nearing the banquet hall, which was just a corner away.

She crooked her head to look at the boisterous party in the banquet hall. The music could be heard from where she was.

She gave a thought and decided not to go in, turning away to leave.

When she was at the front entrance trying to hail a taxi, someone called out from behind. "Miss Kim!"

Jennie turned her head in surprise. It was a waiter from Hotel Sheng Yue.

"Are you Miss Kim? Master Manoban requested for me to pass this to you." When he saw Jennie nod her head, the waiter passed a tube of medicine to her.

Jennie looked at the medicine and felt the pain on her face. She asked, "Master Manoban?"

The waiter did not reply but smiled and gave a polite nod before he turned to leave.

Jennie looked that medicine in her hands curiously and thought of the man she met in the restroom. Master Manoban?

There was only one man in B City known as Master Manoban. It was because of him that no one dared referred another with the same surname as 'Master Manoban'.

She had not met Lalisa Manoban before. The Kim family was not at that level. Even if they were, they would never allow her to be part of it. How was it that Master Manoban from the Eight Dominant Families was a hooligan?

Jennie held him in contempt, spitting at him in her heart. She happened to spot an available taxi and immediately hailed it. It was not a totally bad day today, she thought to herself. It was very difficult to get a taxi in B City and yet she had easily hailed one. It helped make her feel better.

She lowered her head to look at the tube of medicine in her hands. It was an Anti-inflammatory analgesic. Jennie could not help to be reminded of Lisa's elegant and handsome face. She suddenly remembered that Lisa did not seem to be in the men's restroom when she accidentally walked in.

"What nonsense is he talking about being so much in shock that he forgot to pull up his pants! Hmph! Stupid hooligan!" Jennie muttered to herself.

The taxi driver in front vaguely heard words like 'pull up his pants', 'stupid hooligan'. He looked curiously at Jennie and asked, "Miss, have you met a hooligan? Have you made a police report? Let me tell you, you shouldn't be bearing it silently, that sort of pervert will take things further because you keep quiet."

"No, you've misunderstood. It's a little kid at my friend's house just playing around. That child is only three years old, he has not reached the age of being a hooligan," Jennie smiled as she replied.

Just when she finished replying, her phone rang. Jennie's smile disappeared when she saw the name on the screen.

She was reluctant to pick up the call so she let the phone rang awhile before answering it and said, "Aunt Su."

"Since you know to call me that, you should understand your place. I told you to return to the banquet hall after waiting a while. Where did you go? You are looking to create trouble over this, aren't you?" Su Changxin said in a very unfriendly tone.

Jennie took a deep breath and replied in a calm voice, "Aunt Su, I think you haven't forgotten the reason for me to wait a while before going back to the banquet. My face is still obviously swollen and can't be covered by make-up powder. If I went back and someone saw it, they might guess that something happened between us, or even worse, they would think something happened to the Kim Family. Today is the engagement banquet for the Elder Miss Kim, I think you would rather not have rumors flying around. Instead of appearing with a bright and swollen face with a handprint on it at the banquet and create gossip about the Kim family, I thought it was better that I left first. Aunt Su, what do you think?"

"Wow, good job, Jennie. I had no idea that you now have such a glib tongue," Su Changxin snapped harshly and hung up.

Her attitude had no effect on Jennie. Jennie hung up the phone and pretended that nothing happened.

...

The taxi stopped downstairs at her house. She had lived on campus since university, and after graduating and getting a job, she rented a two-bedroom house with her university hostel mate. She had never gone back to the Kim family house to stay ever since.

It was only when the Kim family needed to keep up appearances with outsiders that they would contact her to go back.

Today was Saturday. The moment Jennie entered, she saw Rosé, who had a hairband on, walk out from the bathroom while brushing her teeth. She had obviously woke up from a long and lazy nap.

"Why did you come home so early? The banquet should have just started. F*ck, what happened to your face? It's only an engagement banquet, why were you slapped?" Rosé's eyes were still in a daze and shouted after taking a good look at Jennie.

She spat out some toothpaste foam at the outburst.

Jennie wiped away the toothpaste foam from Rosé's face and replied casually, "Su Changxin thought I was emotionally unstable and looked unhappy. She was worried I might create havoc at the engagement banquet, so she gave me a slap to teach me a lesson. I can't go around looking like this and allowing people to point fingers at me, so I came home early."

Rosé turned back towards the bathroom to spit out the toothpaste and gargled twice. She came out quickly, forgetting to place the toothbrush back and brandished it around in her hands. "I told you that you shouldn't go and see a scum like Cha Eunwoo being all glamorous. He must think that you are so very in love him, so much so that you are being there specifically to create trouble."

"You guessed right," Jennie said grimly as she looked at her.

"Enough is enough with this Kim family. Just because they took you in for a few years doesn't mean that they can treat you so inhumanely." Rosé was also aware that the reason Jennie attended the banquet was that Old Lady Kim had personally requested her to do so.

Jennie might not listen to anyone, but she will always relent with Old Lady Kim.

"They did bring me up after all. I will think of a way to repay them in the future. I'll just avoid them for now." Jennie gave a smile, but her cheek was hurting instead. It was not this painful before, but it got worse as time passed.

A quiet 'ow' was heard, and Rosé wanted to go and get her medicine.

"It's okay, I have medicine here." Jennie stopped her.

"Did you buy it on the way back?"

Jennie nodded guiltily and said she wanted to go to her bedroom to nap.

As soon as she closed her bedroom door, Jennie lost all her energy and her shoulders drooped.
