Krystal seemed to understand what her words really meant, and her face went dark.

"I really do hope so. If you are still harassing him, don't blame me for retaliating!" Krystal left with the elderly Chas after leaving this threat.

Jennie sat down without really taking the situation to heart. Cha Eunwoo no longer has a place in her heart, which naturally meant that there was no cause for any sadness nor distress.

She was not sure why, but other than the days when she found out about the truth and the engagement banquet, she had not really thought about Cha Eunwoo. Unlike before, she was no longer able to emote any emotions over him.

Strangely enough, it was Lisa's face that flashed through her mind. Her earlobes burned as if his breath was brushing against her skin.

Jennie shook her head vigorously. Why was she thinking about him for no good reason?

She rubbed her arms and signaled a waiter to bring the bill. It was all thanks to Lisa tonight that she was able to make an easy escape from You Weiwen and Yao Xingzhi or she would have been taken advantage of. She should be buying Lisa a meal.

She was worried about being misunderstood as trying to get into Lisa's good books, especially with the status he has. She wanted to take the opportunity to secretly pay the bill.

"Hi, Madam, the gentleman who came with you had already settled the bill," said the waiter politely.

Right at that moment, Lisa brought Louis back. Louis skipped towards his seat and continued feasting on the ribs.

Lisa gave the waiter a look and he left with a smile.

"... Hoho, it's all thanks to you tonight, Master Manoban, for helping me out. I wanted to buy you this meal but you've already settled it first," Jennie explained, struck by his elegant indifference and tried to butter up to him.

Lisa looked at her for a moment, and Jennie felt herself go numb all over, before nodding his head seriously and replied, "Next time then."

Jennie, "..."

Was there going to be a 'next time'?

...

While leaving after finishing their meal, Jennie did not bother to say anything about going her own way. It looked like Lisa was determined to see her home. If she had insisted on leaving on her own, Jennie felt that it would be a little hypocritical and annoying.

Louis climbed into the backseat skilfully and into his safety seat, putting on the seatbelt on his own. Judging by the looks of it, Lisa's granduncle must frequently leave Louis in Lisa's care.

While she was thinking about it, she caught sight of Lisa's structurally perfect long fingers reaching over from the corner of her eyes. She panicked for a moment and remembered Lisa previously reaching over her to put on her seatbelt.

It was supposed to be a gentlemanly action, yet when he did it, it felt like he was a hooligan. He had no sense of politeness when it came to keeping a safe distance, not giving her the opportunity to hide from him.

Jennie did not hesitate and immediately pulled at her safety belt and buckled up swiftly before he had the chance to do anything.

Following the sound of the 'click' from the buckle, she heard Lisa's taunting light laugh. Instinctively, Jennie turned towards him and found herself looking into his dark, faintly smiling eyes that were looking at her as his hands were still on the safety belt buckle. He looked like he was laughing at her for overthinking things when he had no intention of helping her with the seat belt.

Jennie blushed and was so nervous, she did not know where to place her hands. It felt awkward no matter where she placed them. She lowered her hands and stared straight at her knees. She could see Lisa start the car from the corner of her eyes. He looked so elegant as he shifted the gears with ease, his actions were casual yet refined.

The car went into silence. Jennie did not know what to say. She was someone who could not stand an awkwardly tensed atmosphere and was trying to figure out what to say in order to lighten up the tension. At that moment, the phone in her bag started ringing.

Jennie felt relieved but when she saw the name displayed on her phone, her feeling of relief dissipated.

It was Jang Ja-yeon, Cha Eunwoo's mother. She was not sure what was the right attitude to react in this situation.

She decided to answer the call, feeling slightly awkward yet trying her best to act as natural as possible at the same time. She greeted, "Auntie."

"Dear Jennie." Jang Ja-yeon's voice was gentle like it would never be in an argument with anybody, even to the point of sounding a little timid.

This was exactly Jennie's impression of Jang Ja-yeon all this while. She was a homemaker who mothered her child and took care of her husband, never going against any decision or opinion of her husband nor child. She was like a woman who kept herself in the back mansion during olden times.

"Auntie, is there anything I can help you with?" Jennie asked politely.

She peeked at Lisa's direction from the corner of her eye.

"Jennie, just now... Are you okay? I'm so sorry regarding what happened between Krystal and Eunwoo, I was really unaware of it. It wasn't until Eunwoo brought Krystal home to tell me that they were getting engaged that I found out about it. I actually... I have always thought of you as my daughter-in-law. All these while when Eunwoo was busy with his career, you sacrificed a lot for us, and I still remember everything that you did. I had not had the chance to talk to you, even during the engagement banquet, until I saw you just now. Don't put Krystal's words to heart, you know her temperament. Eunwoo was the one who did wrong in this situation. I have already lectured him about it. He has wronged you, but he is now with Krystal. As a mother, there really is nothing much I can say. After all, I do hope that my family can live in harmony. I don't want to fight with my son every day and I don't want to see my son fight with my daughter-in-law. Jennie, you... You understand what I'm trying to say, right?"

Jennie, of course, had never expected Jang Ja-yeon to stand up for her in front of Cha Eunwoo, so she replied, "Auntie, don't take this to heart, I have never blamed you. As for Cha... Eunwoo, I have nothing to blame him for either. There are no rules in love that states one is not allowed to break-up."

"Jennie, I know that you are in pain. This is Eunwoo's fault. I only hope that it would not affect our relationship. I still like you very much and treat you like my own daughter," Jang Ja-yeon said gently. After all, nothing could compare to Cha Eunwoo's future.

Jennie did not mind it much but felt lazy to deal with this further. "I know, auntie, you really don't need to worry. I understand."

"Sigh, you... You do understand, that's good. Have you been busy lately?" Jang Ja-yeon asked.

Jennie had never been in such a hurry to hang up, Lisa's presence was overwhelming at her side. Why did this car function so well? The car was silent, even that noise of the drive could not be heard.

Unfortunately, the sound from her phone happened to be loud and clear. Lisa must have overheard every word from Jang Ja-yeon.

"I've been busy recently. I've just joined a company and it's an important time for me during my probation period," Jennie casually gave an excuse.
