She took no more than two steps when her arm was caught again.
Jennie looked up and glared at him. She had thought that he was a decent person after spending some time with him. The situation in the male restroom might have been a misunderstanding but now, she did not think so anymore.
Lisa raised his eyebrows and gave a light laugh, "You've overshot, the car is behind."
As her gaze followed his perfectly structured long fingers, she saw his black Grand Cherokee right in front of her, which she had missed by two steps when she lowered her head while walking.
Jennie was so embarrassed that her expression tightened. She walked past him to go back.
Lisa could not help but smirk as he got into his car.
There was silence in the car until they drove out of the hospital gates. Lisa's rich, serious voice was heard, "Actually, even if they were aware that we know each other well, it will still not be easy for the Kim family to meet me."
Jennie's immediate reaction was, who would want to know you well?
Before she could say anything, Lisa continued, "Although I rather they do not disturb you."
Jennie had a sudden impulse to ask him why he was being so nice to her.
She was about to ask the question when her phone rang.
"Auntie," Jennie called out in an estranged voice.
Jang Ja-yeon said in a low voice, "Jennie, I'm so sorry about just now. Krystal is currently going through the check-up. I'm sitting outside the clinic and secretly giving you a call. Regarding the clash between the both of you, well, Krystal is my future daughter-in-law, it won't be nice of me if I don't support her, I..."
Jennie gently but firmly interrupted her, "Auntie, you don't really need to call me to explain yourself every time Kim Krystal and I meet."
"Jennie, are you mad?" Jang Ja-yeon asked in difficulty.
"No. I just feel that you don't need to mind about this too much. You are free to form your opinions and judge me. In fact, you and Kim Krystal will be a family in the future, it's only natural that you would not want to jeopardize any harmony between you because of an outsider. This is why it isn't really necessary for you to explain yourself every time this happens," Jennie tried to be patient.
She has already chosen her side and acted on it. What was the point of calling her to explain her difficulties every time she did this?
Hoping that Jennie would understand?
It did not matter if she had understood or not. After breaking up with Cha Eunwoo, she no longer had anything to do with his parents. She did not care what Jang Ja-yeon thought of her. It was not necessary for Jang Ja-yeon to ask for her forgiveness every time she hurt her. Jennie could tolerate it once or twice but to go through it every single time was unreasonable.
"I... I just think that it was such a waste between you and Eunwoo. I don't want to be estranged from you because of the situation with Eunwoo and Krystal. I..." Jang Ja-yeon went on endlessly.
Jennie took a deep breath, "Auntie, actually what happened between me and Eunwoo is already in the past, it really is not necessary for you to bring it up again. Besides, I think Kim Krystal takes it to heart when both me and Eunwoo are mentioned together. Please don't let her misunderstand or everyone would end up being unhappy. It would be okay for me but you and Eunwoo are the people who will be living together with her. For your sake and Eunwoo's, for the sake of your family's harmony, I think it's best you don't call me again. If Kim Krystal finds out, she will misunderstand."
Jang Ja-yeon felt her heart dropped at the words. She hurriedly looked towards the clinic and gave a breath of relief upon seeing that Krystal had not yet come out.
It was like Jennie knew what Jang Ja-yeon would do during this moment of silence.
Life was not perfect. There was no way of keeping Krystal happy and at the same time, keep a good relationship with Jennie.
So, Jennie repeatedly kept her phone close, then held it away from herself and used her nails to scratch the phone cover to create a crackling sound, "Hello? Auntie? Auntie? Why can't I hear you? Is your signal bad? Or is it my signal that is bad? Auntie? Hello? Hello?"
She held the phone as far as possible and hung up.
Noticing Lisa's amused look, Jennie felt a little embarrassed, "I just felt, it... it won't do anyone good to continue getting involved with each other."
"I didn't say anything. Why care so much about what I think?" Lisa's voice was playful. He gave her a look while driving.
"..." Jennie choked. She did not know why but she did not give it much thought and blurted out the explanation.
She did not know what to say. Suddenly she noticed the name of the road they were on, "This is not the way back to my house."
"This is going back to my house. It's nearby so we'll head there first to put the medicine on you," Lisa gave her a look and replied calmly.
"It's not some serious wound. I can do it in my own home. The doctors also said it was nothing serious," Jennie did not know what else to say.
Lisa gave a laugh, "Would you believe me If I told you I've forgotten the way back to your house?"
"Hoho, weren't we just there last night?" Jennie gave a cold laugh.
"It's too dark at night, it's difficult to see the roads," Lisa looked straight on as he replied seriously. Jennie almost believed him.
"No worries, I can give you the directions," Jennie had underestimated how thick-skinned Lisa could be.
...
In the end, Lisa relented and followed Jennie's instructions. He drove her home and found a parking space.
Before getting off his car, Jennie thanked Manoban Lisa again. Regardless, if it was not for Lisa being there at her company, she would not be able to resign so easily. Besides, he had also especially taken her to the hospital and had spent a lot of time on her.
"Didn't you promise to buy me a thank you meal yesterday? Let's have it today," Lisa ignored the shocked look on Jennie and got down from the car.
Jennie quickly released her belt buckle to get off the car, "Let's eat nearby? There are actually no high-end restaurants in this area. Master Manoban, if you don't mind..."
Lisa casually interrupted her and nodded sincerely, "I don't mind eating at your house."
Jennie, "..."
She had never thought to let, him, eat, at, her, house!
Lisa looked down at her, "I went to your company this morning to apologize and after that, dragged you to the hospital. Who knew it would take all day, it's so late now and more tiring than work."
Jennie, "..."
