Diana opened her eyes and looked around, she was in a bedroom that she didn't recognize. She slowly sat up and looked around. There were blue and purple curtain lights that flowed in the breeze of the open bay windows. She got out of bed and realized the comforter was the one she was looking at online and the whole room had an underwater theme to it. There was even a project that was shining ocean waves onto the ceiling. Where was she? She thought as she looked around the room. It was just like she dreamed of having one day but everything felt real.
She took a couple of steps and fell as she lost feeling in her legs. Loud steps came rushing to the room she was in and she gasped in fear. The door swung open and she closed her eyes to concentrate on blocking out feeling again.
"Oh Luv, what are you doing out of bed?" She opened her eyes in shock to see Jason, Gabriel, and John kneeling in front of her. "When did you wake up?"
"Wh.." She croaked as she looked at them confused.
"You are home Sweetheart," John spoke softly to not startle her.
"What?" She asked still confused.
"Can I pick you up Mi Amor?" Gabriel asked concerned and she tensed then nodded. He slowly and carefully wrapped his arms under her knees and arms then slowly stood. She winced and hissed as her body moved against him. "Sorry Mi Amor," he whispered.
"I'll go get that pain meds from Doc and also let him know she finally woke up," John said as he grabbed his phone and left the room.
Gabriel carried her over to the bay window seat and slowly sat down. "We found a new home before you disappeared from the hospital room, that was the surprise we wanted to show you," He explained as she looked out the window and watched a few birds in the trees. "Everything is in your name, it's completely yours, Diana."
She tried to turn her head to look at him but the muscles in her neck burned and tears tried to slip down her face but she tensed and blinked them away.
"It's okay Luv," Jason said as he came over and sat beside them and saw the pain in her eyes. "You can cry, we know you are hurting. It's okay, let it out, Luv please don't hold it in anymore."
She instead locked everything up and blocked everything out. She continued to look out the window as Gabriel and Jason looked at each other in concern. They didn't like the instant change in her and needed to let John know what happened.
"I'm going to go get you something light for your stomach, Luv," Jason said standing, "I'm sure you are hungry after all that sleeping you've been doing." She didn't respond or even acknowledge that she heard him and he quietly left the room.
Jason headed downstairs and found John in the kitchen on the phone. "Okay, thanks Doc," John said as he grabbed a bottle of water.
"Tell him she has completely shut down," Jason said trying to mask the hurt in his voice but failed.
"What?" John asked and Jason nodded.
"She is forcing herself not to cry and when I told her I was going to get her something to eat she didn't even move or acknowledge me," Jason explained.
Doc said something but he couldn't understand what he said, "Oh, see you soon," John said then hung up the phone. He sighed and turned to face Jason better, "He said that he is on the way and it sounds like she will break when she is alone. She will have to cope and deal on her own terms, we can't push her and just be there for her but we also have to face the fact that she may lash out at us and blame us."
"Well, it's too be expected," Jason nodded, "she wouldn't have been through all this if it weren't for us."
"I'll take this up," John said as he put the bowl of soup on the tray, "Henry will be here soon, he is on his way back from getting her new clothes that will be okay on her sensitive skin." He entered the room and saw that she hadn't moved from the bay window seat while Gabriel was in the bathroom. "Hey Sweetheart," John said softly as he held the bowl of soup in his hands. "Do you think you can take a couple of bites of soup? Doc is on his way to give you a check up and change your bandages so you can take a bath soon." She kept staring out the window and he just sat there giving her time. After a few minutes he heard the front door open so he placed the bowl on the tray and said, "I'll leave this on the nightstand for when you get hungry, Sweetheart. Doc is here so we'll give you two privacy."
