"Okay Little One," Doc said nodding and putting the syringe back in the bag. "I won't give you a shot, okay? I was only trying to take your pain away but how about if I give you some liquid to swallow instead? It will take longer for it to work, though."
"The new chairs are ready for pick up," Henry said as his phone pinged, "I'm going to go get them."
"Thanks," Jason nodded. He knelt down and pushed her hair out of her face, "We are right here Luv, no one will hurt you again."
She turned to look at him, "I was with you and I still got hurt. You can't say things like that when you have no control over it. You can't promise something you can't keep."
He nodded, "You are right, I'm sorry Luv."
"Do you want to take the liquid pain reliever Little One?" Doc Warren asked once she was able to calm down. "I do have some pain patches I can put on you as well once your body heals some more."
She closed her eyes and held John's hand tightly. "Give me the shot, my body hurts too much. Just keep talking to me, I don't want them in my mind anymore."
"The key goes to the library, Mi Amor," Gabe said as he held her other hand. "Henry has hardly been here since he's been hunting down all of Stephen King's books. Did you know he has over 60 books now?" He scoffed, "What the hell am I thinking? Of course you would already know that. The room is starting to look like the library out of that Disney movie you keep saying you want one day."
"Beauty and the Beast," She whispered as a tear trickled down her face. "I only wanted to be Belle so I could have the library."
"Well, you got pretty fucking close to it," Gabriel chuckled. "I think Henry is excited to see your reaction to what he's done to it."
"We meant what we said Sweetheart," John said softly. "This place is in your name. Everything is in your name, this is your home."
"We're on 100 acres Luv," Jason smiled. "So, we are literally out in the middle of fucking nowhere. You have all this land to do whatever you want with it."
"What about work?" She asked confused as she heard Doc shut his bag. "Hey I didn't feel it."
"That's great," Doc Warren smiled. "I tried to be extra careful, it will start working here real soon. The guys have the cream to apply to your bruises and wounds but they are already healing real well. Just don't give them any trouble taking your antibiotics and pain relievers, okay? I think all of you have been through more than enough lately. I will come back in a couple of days to see how you are doing."
"Thank you Doc," She whispered as she curled into John even more.
"You are very welcome Little One," he smiled as he left.
"I think someone is starting to feel better," John smiled as she whined when he stopped running his fingers through her hair. He started running his fingers through her hair again and she sighed in happiness. He looked up to find Jason and Gabriel smiling.
"Would you like to see the library now Mi Amor?" Gabriel asked and she hummed in appreciation. He smiled and picked up the key off the floor.
John carefully stood with Jason and Gabriel's help and they carried her to the door across from her room. "So close," She murmured as she watched attentively.
"We thought you would like that," Jason nodded. "There is also a panic room in there just to be on the safe side. You can check it out on another day."
Gabriel opened the door and stepped to the side so John could walk in. They smiled at her gasp as she took in the walls and shelves filled with books, "So beautiful," She whispered as she kept looking with wide eyes. She glanced at a few titles that were close and then at them, "You found more copies of the ones that were destroyed."
Jason nodded, "Henry had to order some online but the bookshops he went to were more than glad to help him get more for you. He's got a list for you to look over to see if there is anything missing or you wish to add to it when you feel up to it."
"Thank you," She whispered as she held on to the Edgar Allan Poe complete collection then placed it on the shelf with what little energy she had left.
"You are welcome, Sweetheart," John smiled as she laid back against him. "Do you think you can try and eat something now?" She nodded and they headed back to her room.
They gently sat her in her bed and then John took the bowl of soup and started feeding her spoonful after spoonful. Once she ate about half the bowl she shook her head and yawned. "Go to sleep, Luv," Jason smiled as he sat beside her and started running his fingers through her hair until she finally managed to drift back to sleep.
