After mockingjay

Chapter 4

'Perfect timing' I think. And now I have pancake batter all over me. "Umm can you keep making breakfast? I'll get the door." I say to Peeta. "Sure." Says Peeta. I walk over to the door and open it. It's kind of funny how fast I slam the door on his face. I start walking away when the door opens up again. "Gale! Get out!"

I say. How rude. Walking into someone's house. "Katniss, listen I-" he tries to say but then he sees Peeta walking over to me. "Katniss, what's he doing here?" says Gale shocked. "I could ask you the same thing." Says Peeta. "Gale, just leave." I say about to walk away. Then before I know it he punches Peeta right on the face.

"GALE STOP!" I say while tears start forming into my eyes. I jump in front of Peeta before he punches Peeta again. Gale is so close to punching me but stops the minute he sees me about to take the punch. "Katniss, move!" He says angrily. "No. Now GET OUT!!" I push him out the door and lock it. I see Peeta is still conscious.

"Oh, Peeta, I'm so sorry. Let me go get you some ice." He's already forming a black eye. I grab the ice and give it to Peeta. "Here." I say handing it to him. "I'm so sorry, about Gale coming here and punching you a-" he stops me there. "It's okay Katniss. It's not your fault anyway. No one knew Gale was coming here." He says.

I hug him and realize we still have pancake batter on us. "I'll be right back, I'm going to go change." I say to Peeta. "Okay." He says. I change into a long sleeved shirt thats red and some jeans. When I come back down Peeta is setting up the table for breakfast. "Hey Katniss, I'll be right back, I need to go change into some clean clothes." He says. "Okay, but come back." I say. "Okay Katniss" he says. He comes and kisses me, then walks out the door. I sit at the table.

Then I think 'what if Gale is out there waiting for Peeta? What will happen if he is?' I'm scaring myself. Gale wouldn't do that. Would he? I start to pace back and forth and bite the inside of my cheek. I've always done that when I'm nervous. But then Peeta walks in so I know I worried for nothing. "Hey, I was starting to get worried." I say. "It's fine, Gale wasn't out there. Neither were all the people."

He says. Phew. They're all gone. We start eating. "These are the best pancakes ever! Even better than the Capitols!" I say while shoving them in my mouth. Peeta just laughs and says "Thanks." We decide to go check on Haymitch when we finish. We haven't seen him since he stalked us.

Peeta and I hold hands as we walk down to Haymitch's house. We just walk in because the doors unlocked. When we walk in we see Haymitch is staring at the T.V. even though it isn't on. Yepp, he's drunk. "Hi Haymitch" Peeta and I say. "Oh the love birds decided to come and give a visit to old Haymitch now did you?"

He says. "Yeah, we were just checking in to make sure you were okay." I say. "Well sweetheart, I'm perfectly fine thank you!" He says. "Well then we'll leave then." I say because it smells in here. "Okay sweetheart take care! Oh and next time, let me know when we're having a food fight, because I'll wanna join."

He says. Peeta and I leave and I'm thinking so many things. Stalker. That stalker! He just looks through my window! "Well that wasnt creepy." I say sarcastically. "Yeah, really. Who would've thought Haymitch could be such a stalker."

Just then, we see an old friend, I never thought I would see again.
