Part 24

The next day when Blaine goes to breakfast, he notices Jeffs sad face. Nick next to him holds his hand and draws little circles on the back. With a worried frown Blaine sits down on Jeffs other side and asks "What's wrong Jeff?". "My mother called me yesterday and told me that my grandma's condition got worse..." the boy in the middle mumble. He don't need to say more. Blaine puts his arm around Jeff and says under his breath "Your grandma is strong. It'll be okay. And if you need someone to talk who's not your boyfriend you can come to me". The blond boy nods and whispers "Thank you".

On that day Jeff couldn't concentrate on school work. At lunch time he didn't really felt hungry but ate something so Nick won't worry. But of course Nick worries. He knows how much Jeffs grandma means to him.

After lunch Kurt goes upstairs to get his bag. His father is still at work but Carol will come back from work any moment now and drives him back to Dalton, to Blaine and to his new friends.

When the door opens Kurt sees a not very happy looking Carol. Something is wrong, he knows that. Is she sad? But why? "All okay?" Kurt asks, putting his bag down. Dumb question. Carol shakes her head "Sit with me for a second". Kurt nods and both sit down on the couch. "You told me that you're friends with Blaines old friends Nick and Jeff right?" Carol starts and sees kurt nod so she continues "It's about Jeffs grandma. Please be there for Jeff. His parents will tell him but I don't know when". "Okay. But what's with his grandma?" Kurt asks now truly worried.

"Yo Anderson. Are you gonna ignore me just like at lunch?" Sebastian asks, standing outside at his smoker corner. Blaine rolls his eyes "What's up Sebastian? I don't have much time. Kurt should be back any moment". "Yeah, whatever. I just want to know what this is between us. You're ignoring me but here you are, suddenly able to talk to me again?" the bad boy asks. "I don't want to fight with my friends again or with Kurt because they know this bad boy thing you're still doing influenced me badly. But we were close that's why from time to time I would still talk to you. But now that Kurt is back I can spend more time with him again so don't get used to this" Blaine answers and leaves because he sees Carols car getting closer to the building.

"Thank you Kurt" Carol says and Kurt understands immediatly that it's about Jeff. Kurt smiles softly "Of course. Bye Carol". "Bye Sweetie" she answers, hugs him one last time and then Kurt gets out of the car and goes the last bit to his boyfriend. "Hey Baby" Blaine greets him with a kiss that Kurt gladly returns "Hey". The he looks to the building and says "Come on, we need to get in" while he starts walking to the dorms in a hurry. "Okay but Kurt why the hurry? We still have about half an hour till dinner" Blaine says confused but follows the other boy.

Kurt goes to their room, throws his bag on the bed and goes over to Nick and Jeffs room. He knocks on the door and when he comes in he sees Jeff on his phone and Nick sitting worried next to him. Kurt sits down next to Nick and whispers "Carol told me what happened. I wanted to look after him". Nick nods grateful and then looks over to a still confused Blaine, who followed Kurt into the room. He shakes his head and Blaine immediatly knows what's wrong and frowns worried.

When Jeff ends the phone call he asks the three boys "Could I maybe be alone for a bit?". "Baby I don't think that's-" Nick starts but Kurt cuts him off with putting a hand on his shoulder. He shakes his head to Nick and says in a soft and understanding tone "We're in Blaine and my room if you need us. We come back later.". "Thanks" the blond boy mumbles, looking down to his hands.

When Nick, Blaine and Kurt are back in the other room and the door is closed Nick sits down on one of the beds "He was so close with his grandma". Kurt nods "When Carol told me what happened, she mentioned them being close and talking on the phone everyday". "And I wondered why you want to get to Jeff. I should've known that Carol told you something. Her condition got worse yesterday" Blaine says and sits down next to his best friend. "I hope he'll be okay. He was already so sad after the call yesterday about her condition. I just don't know what to do" Nick says but Kurt answers "Maybe I could talk to him. I know how he feels right now". "You would do that?" Nick asks and Kurt nods "I like Jeff and in times like that you need a good friend who can understand how you feel". Now Blaine is worried about his boyfriend "But you'll be okay too. Right? I know how difficult this topic is for you". "I'll be fine B" Kurt reasures him with a little smile.
