Part 41

Kurt could barely get himself motivated enough to stand up that morning. But it's 10 am when he finally goes down for breakfast. It's still good because Finn is still up in his room and when Kurt comes after Finn for breakfast prople would get suspicious.

After breakfast Kurt goes up to his room and works a bit on his fashion book while listening to music to pass the time until it's 2pm.

Instead of eating lunch with his family or just the part who isn't at work, Kurt gets ready and goes out. He really wants some ice cream right now. It would make him feel better.

Once at the shop Kurt hides behind a corner, already seeing Blaine and Sebastian. The ttwo boys sit down at a free table, facing the shop and both with their backs to Kurt. Not only could Kurt only see the back of both boys but he's also not close enough to hear what the boys talk about.

"So, how are you doing?" Blaine asks the other boy who answers "Yesterday only four cigarettes but the day before I had eight...". He looks guilty. "That's okay. You keep working on it so don't worry about one bad day" Blaine reassures him "and else?".

"Trent and I are talking from time to time but it's still a bit odd even tho we're roommates for more than a year now. I think non of the Warblers really believed me when I told them that I want to change" The bad boy tells. The curly haired boy nods "It's still progress". Sebastian nods smiling "I know. I'm just not ready to put off the jacket over the weekends or so". "That's also okay"Blaine says with a smile.

Kurt rolls his eyes. They seem to enjoy theirselves. He needs to hear what they talk about. He yould just confront them, walking up from behind and take them by surprise. Yes. That's a good idea.

Kurts legs doesn't really want the ways Kurt does. But he's so close to find out the truth. His weak knees won't stop him now. Neither will his dizzy, heavy feeling head.

Except they do. His vision becomes blury and then everything goes black, his legs resisting to carry him any longer.

Sebastian turns around when he hears a bump, together with lots of other people, seeing Kurt laying uncouncious on the ground. "Blaine look!" he says, turning the other boy around by his shoulder. "Kurt?" Blaine asks in surprise and then repeats, aware of the situation "Kurt!".

By now more and more people gathered around the boy and the owner of the shop called an ambulance.

Blaine stands up, wanting to go to the boy but a woman holds him back "Here's nothing to see kids". "This is my boyfriend lying there, Let me through" the smaller boy says harder than intended but he doesn't care. Kurt is his priority now.

"Kurt?" he asks softly and just then the boys opens his eyes again with a little groan. "What happened?" he asks, holding his head. Did he hit his head? He doesn't know but it hurts.

"I could ask you the same but we'll talk about this later. How are you?" Blaine asks worried. He's even more worried when Kurt answers "Bit cold". For october it's warm outside. Carefully he presses his hand against Kurts forehead "Kurt you're burning hot". The other boy looks down in guilt "I know". "We'll talk about that later too. First lets get you to the hospital. The ambulance is on it's way" Blaine says worried "On the way you'll call your dad".

Kurt nods, trying to suppress a shiver. He took it to far and he knows that now.
Sebastian seems to see how cold the boy is and pulls off his leather jacket. He kneels down on Kurts other side and gives it to him with a smile "I know you don't like leather jackets but it'll keep you warm a bit better". With a thanking smile Kurt takes the jacket, putting it on instantly. Sebastian is right.

Once the ambulance arrives and takes Kurt Blaine says goodbye to his friend and drives with Kurt to the hospital.

On their way to the hospital Kurt calls his dad "Hey dad. Don't freak out okay? But Blaine and I are on the way to the hospital". "What?!" Burt asks in shock, his heart skipping a beat. Kurt sighs "Just come. I'll explain everything when you're there".

Burt was okay with that so he hangs up. He'll just meet Carol in the hospital since she has a shift but as much as he wants Finn to stay home and learn, the tall boy worries about his brother and so Burt has to take him with him.

At the hospital Kurt has to run through some tests while Blaine searches and finds the Hudson-Hummes. Of course Burt immediately wants to know what's wrong with his son so Blaine tells what he knows "I was out with a friend and he came to surprise me and kinda just fainted. He hadn't reached our table by then so I didn't saw it. But he has a fever and he knows it".

"But why would he keep something that important for himself?" Carol asks and the curly haired boy shrugs "That's what we have to find out". Then he adds "You go first and talk to him. I have to call someone and then Kurt and I have to talk alone about something".

Seeing Doctor Martin walking in their direction the conversation ends abruptly so they could listen to what the doctor has to say "Kurt is okay. He has a fever and he says he has it for three days. He fainted because his circulation collapsed from the stress, the fever and no medication. He's on antibiotics now and should get better soon. His head didn't hit the ground but he'll probably still has a minor concussion".

Now that Doctor Martin finished the group split up. The Hudson-Hummels go to Kurt and Blaine outside in the hospital garden to call Sebastian.

"Hey. Sorry for leaving that fast but I had to go with him" Blaine says but the other boy understands "It's okay. He needs you. Is he better now?". "I don't know yet. He's on antibiotics now and his family talks to him at the moment. But I'll talk to him later" the curly haired boy says. "About why he kept the fever for himself?" Sebastian asks and his friend answers "Yes and why he was at the shop. He knew that we'll meet I guess but he could've talked to me". "You said you keep it in secret from him because he doesn't like me. You knew the risk" the bad boy reminds him.

"I know. But what he did still wasn't okay" Blaine says but Sebastian could hear something in his voice "You want to be mad at him for that but can't because you're worried?". When it comes to Kurt Blaine simply works that way so Sebastian isn't surprised hearing Blaine agreeing "Mhm".

"Just talk about it with him. You two love each other so it should work to just talk things through" Sebastian says, making Blaine laugh "When did you become so smart?". "Since you helped me to change I guess. I hope that some day I find someone I can love the way you love Kurt" the bad boy says. "You will find someone. Believe me" Blaine reassured him.

The bad boy clears his throat "And now stop talking to me. Your boyfriend is in hospital and you still have some things to talk about". "Right" Blaine remembers and after a quick bye he hangs up and goes in.

Meanwhile Kurt sits on his head in his room, knowing he's in trouble when his family walks in. "Before we come up with any 'how are you feeling' feelings I want to know why you didn't tell us" Burt asks in a strange mix of being mad and worried.

Kurt sighs "I know it was wrong and I learned my lesson. But hospital was the last thing I needed so I thought it might go away eventually. With everything going on I couldn't just go to hospital. I know it was bad and still brought me to hospital. I learned my lesson".

Now that Kurt explained himself Carol couldn't stand still anymore. She goes to Kurt, presses her hand against his forehead and asks "How are you sweetie?". Then she adds in her husband's direction "Sorry. I'm weak". "I'm okay" Kurt answers her with a smile on his lips.

"Your circulation collapsed. That's really something. And your head? Does it hurt?" Carol asks and Kurt shakes his head "Not anymore. I'm fine".

There's a knock at the door and Blaine comes in "Am I interrupting?". "No kiddo. Come in. We give you some time alone" Burt says, leaving the room with Finn and Carol following. Now it's just Kurt and Blaine.
