To Be A Hunter

Chapter 1

Nova was packing up stuff she would need when her mom, Lila, walked in and let out a heavy sigh and just stared at her daughter.

"Please mom, I have to do this." Nova stated as she zipped up her duffle bag.

"No you don't. You do realize doing this sort of thing is what got your father killed."

Nova took a deep breath and let it out, "I know that. And that's why I got to find out what did it to them and kill it. Whatever it is."

"Please Nova! This isn't what I wanted for you. And your father didn't want it for you neither. Hence why you grew up normal well as normal as life could get anyways."

"I know and I'm sorry but it's in my blood and I have to do this. To put my mind at ease so please mom so just let me go."

Lila let out a heavy sigh, ran her hand through her hair and walked over to her daughter. She put her hands on Nova's upper arms and gently rubbed up and down.

"Just promise me you'll be safe. Well as safe as you can." She told her with a small smile.

"I promise I will." She smiles back.

"So when you leaving?"

Nova looked at the clock on her nightstand then back at her mom, "First thing in the morning, it's a little late now for any road trip."

"Okay." Lila nodded, "I knew this day would come."

As Lila started to walk out she motioned for Nova to follow her so she did. They walked into Lila's bedroom and Lila pulled out a small wooden box and sat down on the edge of the bed with the box in her lap.

"I think deep down your father did too." Lila patted the bed next to her. After Nova sat down she continued, "Before he left he gave me these for both of us to wear. I went ahead and started wearing mine." She pulled a necklace out with a symbol on it then pulled out one and handed it to Nova, "Here take it and wear it. That symbol, will keep evil out of you."

Nova put it on and smiles, "Wow, thanks mom."

"You're welcome." Lila patted Nova's knee.

"Wait, what if I accidentally lose this though?" Nova picks up the trinket then let's it fall back down on her chest.

"Well it's only what, 9:30pm on a Friday night? So we could always go and get it stamped somewhere on your body permanently." Lila stood up, pulled down the hem of her pants down some and showed off the symbol tattoo on her lower stomach.

"Woah, how long have you had that? And wait how did I not notice you having it?"

Lila giggled a little, "Since about a year after me and your father got married. And every time we went swimming I always wore a one piece suit." She shrugged one shoulder.

"Okay then, let's do it."

They then went down to the local tattoo shop and got Nova the tattoo. Unlike her mother Nova didn't get it on her hip, she decided to have it put her left shoulder blade.

"Perfect." Nova grinned as she looked over her shoulder at the tattoo work in the mirror.

After Lila paid they left and went back home.

"Okay, I'm going up to bed and get some rest before my trip."

After they said their good nights Nova went upstairs and laid down. She didn't realize how tired until her head hit the pillow.

Nova and Sam were at his place helping each other study. They were both in the same college, even though they weren't majoring in the same careers they still had a couple classes together.

"Ugh I'm so tired of studying." Nova groaned tossing the book down on the table.

Sam chuckled, "But we've got that test coming up."

"Okay and? We don't need to study every free time we have. Plus." She took the book from him and set it on the table, "It's not until the day after tomorrow. And we've been studying pretty much all evening." She turns the music up a little louder.

"But Nova-"

"But nothing Sam." She cut him off, "Come on, let's just relax the rest of the night, please?" She places her hand on his chest and gave him her best puppy dog face.

"Okay fine." He chuckled lightly, "So what shall we do then?"

"I have some ideas." She says and straddles him then starts placing kisses on his neck.

"Nova." He says as he sets his hands on her hips.

She raises up and looks at him, "What?"

"You really think this is a good idea?"

"Oh come on, we both need to relax, and release some... tension." She rubs her hands up his chest and cups the sides of his neck softly, "So please just let's have some fun.".

Before Sam could say anything she started kissing him. At first he didn't kiss back but then gave into the kiss while cupping the sides of her head making her smile into the kiss.

She broke the kiss, took her shirt off, kissed him again then pulled away and took his off.

"You sure you want to do this?" He asked lowly.

She nodded as she rubbed her hands up and down his chest, "I'm more than sure."

As they started kissing again Sam reached around, unhooked her bra and slid it off, while not breaking the kiss.

Lila began knocking on Nova's door.

"Nova, sweetie, wake up!"

Nova groaned as her eyes opened, "I'm awake, I'm awake."

"Well get out of bed. I'm making breakfast for you to eat before your journey." She called out through the door.

Nova rubbed her hands over her face as she sat up, "Okay, I'll be right down."

"All right sweetie." With that Lila walked away.

Nova got up, took a quick shower then got dressed and went downstairs to join her mother for breakfast.

"Do you remember Sam Winchester? I went to school with him?" Nova asked once they started eating.

"Uh, ah yes, isn't he the one who you were with until he met some other girl so he broke your heart?"

Nova sucked in a breath, "Yes mom, him."

"Well what about him?"

"It weird, for some reason I had a uh, very, uh nice dream about him. Until I gotten woken up anyways."

Lila smirked, "I'm sorry." Then she burrowed her eyebrows together, "Why are you thinking about that jerk?"

"That's the thing. I don't know. I mean I haven't thought about him in quite a while." Nova shrugged.

Lila waved her hand in the air, "I wouldn't think much of it. We've all had weird dreams, and dreams of past... lovers before."

"Wait, you've had dreams about past lovers?"

"Who hasn't dear? But enough of talk like that."

"Wow." Nova chuckled.

"So where you headed first?" Lila asked, changing the subject.

"Oh uhm." Nova took a drink then cleared her throat, "Minnesota, that's where I need to go first."

Once they got done eating Nova and Lila said their goodbyes to each other then Nova got her stuff and tossed it into the trunk of her baby blue 1970 Chevrolet Nova SS. Which was a present from her dad for completing college, she always loved the car since she had the same name as the it. She had majored in Mythology so she could help her dad with research if needed, but she didn't tell anyone that's why she chose that career.
