...
luke noticed michael loved the color pink. almost half of the shirts he picked out were a sort of pastel pink color, and the other half were white. luke had to persuade michael into getting a black tank top, even though he knows michael would never wear it.
lunch rolled around and michael started getting antsy.
"I'm hungry," he whined as luke looked through a clothing rack for himself.
"wait, then." luke rolled his eyes.
"please," michael pleaded, his bottom lip sticking out.
"no." luke shook his head. he really wanted to get michael something to eat, but like the furry expert said, michael needed to be disciplined.
michael was more comfortable using his words now, luke could tell because he wouldn't shut up. not that luke minded though. he liked listening to michael's angelic voice.
after fifteen minutes of 'disciplining', luke walked michael to the food court and he picked out some sandwiches to eat.
michael munched gratefully, moaning at the taste. luke felt his underwear tighten a bit.
*
after the mall luke took michael home.
"cut off all the tags for me, then throw them in the wash, okay kitten?" luke mumbled against the furry's ear, kissing it after.
"okay," michael said, feelings his cheeks heat up.
"good boy. I'll be in my room if you need me."
michael started cutting off the tags and throwing the shirts into a laundry basket. he made sure to put lukes and his in two separate baskets because luke's clothe's were all black and michael's were all pink and white (with one exception, of course).
michael heard stories when he was at the sanctuary. he heard about furries going feral. he heard about them escaping the sanctuaries and went off murdering people. michael didn't want to become a feral. he was scared of them. but he was glad he had luke and this big, gigantic house to keep him safe.
michael tossed luke's shirts into the washing machine and pressed the button to turn it on. it made a sputtering noise and then the lights went red. it made a sputtering noise again, much louder. michael panicked and ran to luke's room.
"luke! luke! the washing machine!" he called out. luke sat up on his bed and walked towards the washing room.
he turned the washing machine off and cursed under his breath.
"what did you do, michael?" he glared.
"I-I'm sorry," michael whimpered, "I was just trying to wash your clothes for you. I didn't mean to break it, I swear."
luke sighed and pushed past michael. he pulled his phone out of his pocket and dialed up a number.
tears started to prick at michael's eyes. he knew what luke was about to do.
"please don't send me back, luke! I'm sorry I swear it was an accident!" he cried. tears streaked down his pink cheeks as he tried to stop luke.
"go to your room," luke hushed him, "I'll be there is a minute."
michael looked to the ground.
you screwed up again, michael.
you'll be punished.
michael fell face forward onto his bed and cried. he heard luke talking on the phone with someone and pressed his ear against the wall.
"he was crying though, ash. I don't think he meant to."
michael wiped his eyes and continued listening, straining his little kitten ears.
"yeah, I know. okay. I'll talk to him. yeah that, too. I know. thanks."
he jumped back onto his bed, folding his hands on top of each other.
luke opened the door, stuffing his phone into his back pocket.
michael wanted to tell luke it was an accident. that he would be more careful next time. that he was sorry and that he didn't want luke to send him back.
"I'm sorry." michael said, hushed and afraid.
"shh." luke warned him gently. "don't speak." luke cleared his throat. "I know that it was an accident. I'm not sending you back. but I'm gonna call someone over so that he can fix the washing machine."
michael started tearing up again.
luke didn't move. he kept his face neutral.
"I know it's not your fault. stop crying." he breathed.
"sorry..." michael said again, wiping his eyes.
"it's okay. really. don't be too hard on yourself." luke cooed, wanting so badly to sit next to him and hug him and tell him it was gonna be fine. but ash told him he needed to be disciplined. and luke listened.
luke left the room, leaving michael with puffy pink eyes.
*
luke hated himself or not being able to wrap his arms around his kitten. he felt bad leaving michael crying on his bed with his head in his hands. but ash told him to. and luke thought that he was the more experienced furry-owner. so he listened. and he hated himself for it.
"ash, I feel really bad." luke groaned into his phone.
"but you did tell him you knew it wasn't his fault, right?"
"yeah. but I didn't hold him. ash, I want to hold him." luke muttered, rubbing the back of his neck.
he heard ashton sigh from the other end. "sorry, but no. he has to learn to be more careful."
"it was an accident though." luke breathed, a little bit annoyed.
"michael has to be somewhat afraid of you, luke. you have to jump at any chance you can get to scare him, even just a little. you don't want him to become feral, do you?"
luke shook his head vigorously, "n-no of course not."
"good. I'll talk to you later, mate." ashton said before hanging up.
luke didn't sleep in michael's bed that night. he felt lonely in his own. he wanted his kitten snuggled up against his chest. he wanted to be able to kiss the top of his head.
