...

calum didn't call michael into his bedroom that night. calum didn't even sneak into his room. and michael was thankful for hat, because he got some sleep. even so, in the morning he was back to feeling terrible. he got up, ate the small breakfast calum made him, thanked him, then went upstairs to get dressed.

at school, michael saw dylan and ace chatting at ace's locker. he walked up to them, putting on the most genuine smile his tired face could display.

"hey ace. hey dylan."

they both nodded in response and michael grabbed the books from his locker. the bell rung, and ace and dylan walked michael to class, patting michael on the back before he stepped in.

the only seat left was next to britt and so he slid in next to her. she looked a bit sadder than usual. actually, she looked straight up gloomy. this was totally out of britt's enthusiastic and cheery behavior and it worried michael. did anything happen between her and calum?

michael didn't think much about what would happen if he did ask luke sign the papers. would luke do it? would he fight for michael? and what would happen to britt? michael had seen a couple stories about multiple furries owned by one dominant, but they were usually just used as house servants. in other words, omegas. either that, or the dominant would be rich and constantly horny and blah blah blah.

"michael? are you taking notes?" the teacher asked from the front of the room.

michael's eyes grew a bit wide, "oh, s-sorry, sir."

he scribbled some random words down onto his notebook to make it look like he was busy.

in reality, he couldn't stop thinking about the whole calum situation.

calum's behavior last night was so strange. he was actually pleading for michael to stay, begging him. it was odd enough that a dominant would do that, ask something of a furry, but the fact that it was calum was almost scary. even when michael was owned by calum he would never beg michael to do anything.

michael knew why he was so desperate.

calum always relied on power to make him do anything he wanted. now that he had tried punishment, verbally and physically, he had no options left. calum was downright scared. and he should be. because when luke gets home from his damn business trip and he swoops michael in his arms, calum will know what love is and he'll leave michael alone. at least... hopefully.

michael met ace and dylan under the tree at lunch again. he didn't know how he felt about dylan, to be honest. he popped up out of no where and since ace was always around, he felt out of place to ask him where he came from. ace liked him, so michael thought it was reasonable to like him, and he did. michael didn't want to seem envious, but ace was starting to talk to dylan more than he was talking to michael. it bugged him more than it hurt him, so he decided not to say anything.

after school, michael met up with calum and britt again at the back parking lot. calum was still a little bit fidgety, which was surprising. the ride was silent as usual, and when they got home, britt went upstairs and calum called michael over to the kitchen. a routine.

michael felt tired of it. he wanted to know how luke was doing. he didn't understand why calum felt the need to take away his phone.

"sir, is luke coming back anytime soon?" michael asked in the sweetest tone he could manage.

calum took a deep breath. he looked stressed and his hands were unusually clammy.

"he's coming home tonight, michael. we're picking him up from the airport in a few hours."

michael couldn't stop the smile from erupting from his features. his lukey was coming back home.

"but, that's not what I called you in to the kitchen for." the raven-haired man cleared his throat, leaning onto the kitchen countertop. "have you decided about the papers luke has to sign?"

michael suddenly felt angry. how could calum ask a question like that so casually? right after he announced luke would be coming back home?

"yes." michael spoke in a calm tone, even though inside he was raging.

"and? come on, kitten, we could have fun again. I love you."

kitten. michael had it.

"I love luke. and I'm never staying with you again."

the desperation in calum's eyes quickly turned in rage. he started breathing heavily, balling his hands into tight fists. michael had never seen calum like this before. he looked like he was going to explode.

he raised one of his fists in the air, shrieking curse words and luke's name and michael's name.

michael was almost sure calum was going to strike his face.

his fists came down onto one of the kitchen cabinets, though. michael covered his eyes with his arms in fear of wood splinters getting into his eyes.

and he was left in the kitchen. calum stormed upstairs, and michael heard his bedroom door slam. he flinched at the sound.

seconds later he heard a soft pitter-patter of feet on stairs, and then britt was there, crouching down next to michael.

"did he hurt you?"
