a/n: i kinda changed this idea but i tried to stick with it for the most part
Walking through the streets of New York, your girlfriend's fingers intertwined with yours, you couldn't help but grin as snow fell around you both. It was like the whole world stopped turning for the two of you, her bright eyes were the only things that you could focus on.
Suddenly, you were snapped out of your live induced trance when your phone rang, groaning when you realised who it was, "hey, dad." The faint sound of christmas music drifted through the speaker, and laughter could be heard quite prominently, "when are you coming home, we all miss you."
Sighing, you remembered that you promised to spend the holiday with your parents and siblings, "I'm in New York right now, I'll be back soon." You could practically see his face etched with annoyance, "why are you staying there for so long, are you with a friend?"
Grimacing, you decided to just tell him, "I'm with my girlfriend." Anxiously waiting for his reply, you rested your head on Kate's shoulder, "well can't you just bring her with you?" You looked over at her, and she nodded as she could hear what was going on.
"Alright then," you shrugged. "Perfect, see you soon," his spirits were lifted and he was very excited to meet your lover. You knew your dad would accept you no matter what, but you still felt relieved that he was okay with this.
Kate bought you both plane tickets to Iowa before you packed your bags and returned home. The flight was relatively short, only around three hours, but that didn't stop you and your girlfriend from having some fun.
When the plane landed, a car was waiting for you at the airport courtesy of your father and his connections due to being a former avenger. "After you, m'lady," Kate opened your door for you as you rolled your eyes jokingly at her fake formalities.
"Thank you, ma'am," you played along. "I can't wait to meet your family," Kate grinned. "You'll love them, my siblings are crazy but you and my dad have some things in common," you bounced in your seat, excited to see everyone.
She laughed, "you really adore your father, it's cute." You smiled at her, "you'll adore him just as much, if not more." After a while, you pulled up to your family's farm and dragged Kate inside.
"Y/n!" your little brother attached himself to your leg. "Hey, bud, how's it going?" you crouched down so you were at eye level with him. "We missed you," he hugged you tightly. "I missed you too," you chuckled.
Your dad walked in, freezing when he saw you both. "Kate?" his eyes were wide and his stance was stiff. "Clint?" her face lit up in joy, happy to see her friend. "You guys know each other?" you were confused.
"Clint and I are best friends!" she giddily rocked back and forth on her heels. "We worked together, once," he corrected her, still happy to see her though. He was glad you were dating her, he knew she would treat you right.
