Steve's POV
I was exhausted as I dragged myself into the tower. The past 4 months had been tiring but they were worth it once we arrested a bunch of HYDRA people.
When Bucky and I left the quinjet, I was slightly disappointed that y/n wasn't there to greet us, I assured myself she would just be inside.
We walked inside and the team all came up to us and greeted us. Natasha stayed sitting down, and pulled Wanda down when she tried to stand up.
I quickly said hello, scanning the room for my sister, I began to worry about what happened. "Where's y/n?" I asked, trying to mask the worry in my voice. "You might want to sit down," Sam told me.
Sam told me what had happened and him and Bucky had to physically hold me down so I wouldn't go and yell at Natasha and Wanda. They promised they would look after her, they promised they wouldn't break her heart.
I went to shower before I checked up on her, I was covered in dirt and dried blood and I just wanted to hold her in my arms.
I knocked on her door, but she didn't respond. "Y/n?" I called out. "Y/n I'm coming in," I said. I walked in and I couldn't see her on the bed. I looked down and I saw her lying on the floor, her head bleeding, there was blood on the dresser and it wasn't hard to figure out what had happened.
She wasn't moving, like at all. I put my head on her chest to try and hear her heartbeat but I couldn't feel anything. I started to shake her and call her name, but to no avail. "FRIDAY, get the rest of the team up here please!" I called out.
"Yes, Captain Rogers, right away," the AI responded. I started to cry, I couldn't lose her. She was my favourite person in the entire world, hell, she was my entire world. I was going to kill Natasha and Wanda.
After a few minutes I heard everyone running down the hallway from the elevator. "What's going on?" asked Bucky. Everyone stopped yelling when they saw her limp body I was cradling in my arms.
"FRIDAY, what's the diagnosis?" Tony asked the AI. "Miss Rogers collapsed at 11:43am as she has been severely malnourished, her blood sugar levels were dangerously low due to not eating properly for 4 months. She hit her head on the way down, even if she hadn't, nothing could've saved her after being malnourished for so long. I'm sorry for your loss, everyone," the AI replied.
I sobbed harder than I've ever sobbed before. She was my rock. I looked up to see the team all crying. Even Natasha and Wanda were crying. I stood up and pushed past everyone to get to them.
"THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULTS." I screamed at them, unable to contain my rage. I had never felt so much hatred for anyone in my entire life. "Steve..." Bucky placed his hand on my back.
"NO! THEY HURT MY SISTER. MY FUCKING SISTER. THE ONLY WAY I AGREED TO HER DATING YOU WAS WHEN YOU BOTH AGREED TO NEVER HURT HER. AND NOW SHE'S DEAD BECAUSE OF BOTH OF YOU. I HOPE YOU GUYS ARE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES." I continued.
3rd Person POV
Nobody dared to interrupt the captain. Not when his sister was laying dead on the floor. If they were being honest, most of the avengers thought the girls deserved the speech Steve gave them, after all, it was them who broke her heart.
Bucky picked up y/n's cold, lifeless body and stroked the hair from her face. "Tony, please. Is there nothing we can do?" he asked.
"I wish there was Bucky, but I don't think there is," Tony replied. "You don't think??" Bucky asked. "We can't just bring people back from the dead, not even the guys in Wakanda or on Asgard can do that," Tony explained, his voice breaking.
Wanda couldn't help but feel terrible. Steve was right. It was their fault. She shouldn't have listened to Natasha. She had convinced Wanda that y/n was a terrible person and at first Wanda refused to believe her.
Eventually Nat got to her head and she gave in, not wanting to argue with her lover. She ended up feeling incredibly guilty. That day she had come to the decision that she was going to give Natasha an ultimatum. Either they give y/n another chance or she would break up with her.
She loved them both dearly and couldn't bare the pain of knowing y/n was holed up in her room, alone. She walked over to Bucky and gently caressed her ex-lover's face one last time.
"I still love you, and I always will," she whispered into her ear gently, tucking some loose strands of hair behind her ears. Steve smiled at the gesture, Sam had mentioned that it was mainly Natasha that had hurt her.
He mentioned the change he had seen Wanda, how everyone could tell she missed y/n but was too afraid of losing Natasha to do anything about it.
Natasha tried to pull her away but Wanda yanked her hand away. "No, Natasha, I've had enough. You can't control me like you used to," Wanda told her, confidently.
"Can't I?" Natasha responded.
"No. I am sick and tired of being controlled by you. I never should have left y/n alone, especially after she had just told us how much she had been struggling," she continued before turning to Steve, "I'm sorry I failed you Steve, I just hope one day you can forgive me," she added before looking down at her feet so he couldn't see the tears falling down her face.
He pulled her in for a hug and whispered in her ear, "thank you for making her happy."
The next few days were spent cleaning out her room. Wanda ended things with Natasha and kept all of y/n's hoodies, some of them still smelled like her and she loved that.
Her and Steve would go on walks through the woods and just sit and cry next to her favourite picnic spot. They were still processing her death for weeks.
That's when they heard it.
"Always and forever, Steve."
Wanda gasped loudly at the familiar voice.
"What, Wanda, you didn't see that coming?"
A/N: It wasn't too sad but I hope yall like it :) I'll edit this in the morning oops
