Groaning when you realised you forgot your keys, you rest your forehead against the door, praying your girlfriend was home.
Ashamed of your forgetfulness, you sheepishly pressed the doorbell, awaiting the sight of your favourite person.
"Detka, you're home!" Yelena threw her arms around you, squeezing you as tight as she could.
She excitedly grabbed your work bag and your hand, dragging you into the kitchen. Carefully, she picked you up and placed you on the cold counter, causing you to shiver.
A gentle kiss on the tip of your nose was enough to cause tears to form in your eyes.
"Hey, hey. It's okay, malyshka," Yelena held your hands tightly, rubbing circles over them with her thumbs.
Quiet sobs began to fall from your mouth, your inner thoughts were overwhelming and loud. "Shh, detka. You're okay, you're safe, you're home," your girlfriend handed you a glass of cold water, encouraging you to drink a little.
Hesitantly, you reached your arms out, letting Yelena pick you up and take you upstairs to shower. She gently washed your hair, using her conditioner as per your request so you could bask in her scent as long as you wanted.
She helped you into a t-shirt of hers and some underwear, putting your favourite show on her laptop. Carefully, she held you close to her as you lay together in bed, your head on her chest, the rhythmic rise and fall beneath your cheek soothing you.
"Do you want to talk about what's on your mind?" she asked you, her hand absentmindedly brushing through your hair."
"It was just a tough day," you sighed, feeling Yelena kiss the top of your head. "I'm sorry, malysh. Is there anything I can do to help?" there was genuine concern evident in her voice but you wanted nothing other than to lay in her arms.
"No, thank you. You've done so much for me already," you kissed her shoulder gently in appreciation. "I'd do anything to see you smile, dorogoya," she told you, sitting up against the headboard, pulling you up with her.
She sat you between her legs, "is it okay if I do your hair?" You nodded, as she delicately wove your hair into two french braids, treating you as though you were porcelain.
When she was finished, she noticed you were on the verge of falling asleep so she lay you back down, pulling the blankets over your body as she joined you in your cocoon of warmth. "I love you, princessa," she turned down the volume on her laptop, holding you as you slept.
