The door slammed behind you accidentally, causing you to wince at the sudden loud noise. The mission you had just returned from was emotionally and physically draining, and all you wanted was a shower and to sleep forever.
Luckily, Natasha was asleep when you checked on her, so you could quickly shower without waking her.
When you got out, you wrapped a towel around your body and walked over to the mirror, staring at your bloodshot eyes with dark bags under them, sighing as it reminded you of everything that had happened in the past week.
"I missed you," a pair of arms wrapped themselves around your waist as Natasha smiled at you in the mirror. "I missed you too," your voice was hoarse and weak, which indicated to your girlfriend that you needed some love and support right now.
She helped you slip on some of her clothes before guiding you into the bedroom, "come here," her arms were open, inviting you into bed. "Do you need me to get you anything?" she asked you quietly, but you shook your head, craving nothing but sleep.
As you got comfortable with your head on her chest, you focused on the steady pace of her beating heart that would constantly reassure you of her safety.
Her hand came up to your head, brushing her fingers through your slightly damp hair, soothing you. The rise and fall of her chest beneath you made you smile to yourself; as long as you had Natasha, you knew everything would be okay.
The redhead smiled down at you as the rain outside made itself known.
A crash of thunder echoed throughout the sky, your body tensing up as you grabbed the fabric of Natasha's shirt.
She gently rubbed your back to soothe you and covered your ear that wasn't against her chest with her other hand.
"It's okay, baby; I'm here to protect you."
