"Rise and shine, superstar!" Gregory's chocolate brown eyes slowly appeared, as a yawn escaped the boy's mouth. Freddy was sitting next to his bed, waiting for him to wake up. Groggily, Gregory asked, "What... time is it?" Checking his system's internal clock, the animatronic answered, "Eleven AM. You slept in." The boy blinked. "... I woke up after you?"

"You did." Freddy replied, sounding a little amused. "I was a little surprised to find you still asleep when my system restart completed. You do not normally sleep so long." He told, before asking, "Did you sleep well?" Another yawn came from Gregory, before he slowly sat up. "Sorta." The bear's head cocked a little, curiously. "Oh?"

"I erm, woke up once, or twice... no big deal." Gregory answered, seemingly trying to brush Freddy off. The bear hummed, deciding to let it slide for now. It probably wasn't anything to be worried about. "Well then, I think we should get you brunch. How does that sound, superstar?" Eyes lighting up a little, the boy nodded. "Yeah!"

The day continued on as normal. Gregory, riding on Freddy's shoulders, went to one of the local family owned café styled restaurants to get brunch. It was the same place he'd gone to when they'd first arrived in the city. While Gregory was inside getting his food, Freddy remained outside on the sidewalk bench. He'd periodically glance inside to keep an eye on the boy. "Is that you friend outside?"

"Huh?" Gregory glanced out the window when one of the shop's owners he'd been ordering from—who introduced herself as Mrs. Cooper—pointed outside. The older woman was pointing at Freddy. "O-Oh, um, yeah." Smiling a little, the owner looked back to Gregory. "He can join you inside, if you'd like."

"... Really?" Mrs. Cooper nodded. She seemed like the kind of lady to have a soft spot for kids, and was willing to offer such a thing. "Um, yeah, okay!" Gregory answered. "Thanks!" With that, the boy went to retrieve Freddy—who just barely fit through the door. Thankfully, however, the ceiling was rather high up. The animatronic's height wasn't a problem.

"Here, this table should be good for you two." Mrs. Cooper told, gesturing to one of the tables which had a bench built into the wall. Freddy took that seat, while Gregory sat in the chair across. "Thank you, ma'am. You did not need to invite me in." The woman waved the bear off. "Oh it's not trouble. You two enjoy, erm," Mrs. Cooper paused mid sentence, before promptly correcting her. "You, young man," She looked to Gregory. "Enjoy you meal."

"Thanks, I will." Gregory answered, before the woman went to do another task. The duo smiled at the lady's generosity.

While Gregory ate, Freddy would try to keep a small conversation going. In truth, he felt a little out of place, and was trying to ignore that strange feeling. "Maybe after you've finished eating, we can go fly your kite again?" Swallowing his bite of food, the boy nodded. "Sounds good! Then after I'll go back to the festival street."

"Great. Eat up, superstar!"

It was beginning to become late in the evening. The afternoon seemed to have come and went with Gregory and Freddy flying the boy's kite in the park, and then with going back to help with the almost finished festival prep. The festival's organizers had ordered food for all the volunteers as a way of saying thank you, while also providing it as a dinner. Gregory was able to get a helping too, and after that, him and Freddy returned to their van.

"Alright, superstar, I know you slept in this morning, but it is time for you to go to sleep." Freddy told, pulling the blanket up to Gregory's chest. "Aww, but I'm not tired, yet!" The boy tried to argue. "I am able to tell when a child is tired, Gregory, and you are tired." A small pout found it's way onto Gregory's face. Then, he sighed. A grumbled "Fine." was heard, as the boy laid back and got comfortable.

"Great. Goodnight, superstar." Freddy said, going to lay back where he always would in the cramped space.

For most of the night, Freddy remained awake. He watched over Gregory as the boy soon fell asleep. Eventually, however, Freddy needed to power down, too. He would normally do so for two or three hours, before waking up to watch over Gregory again. So, closing his yellow optics, the bear powered down for a bit.

Powering on, Freddy was met with the sound of sniffling, ruffling of sheets and quick, panicked sounding breathing. Opening his eyes, he blinked a few times and looked around—optics glowing in the dark interior of the van. He looked over, to see Gregory thrashing about in his sleep, tears streaming down his face. The bear let out a small gasp.

"Gregory!" Going to the boy's side, Freddy placed a large hand on Gregory's shoulder to try and shake him awake. "Gregory, wake up!" He called, trying to bring the thrashing to a stop. "Please, wake up! You are having a nightmare-!" Abruptly, Gregory's eyes snapped open as he shot awake. In a daze, he quickly shoved Freddy's hands away from fear, as he wasn't fully awake.

"Gregory, can you hear me?" The quiet crying continued, as Gregory curled into a ball. "Hey, look at me." Freddy gently asked, putting his hand on the boy's trembling back. Slowly, Gregory looked up, his tear filled eyes meeting Freddy's worry filled ones. "Are you awake now?" Still shaking, the boy gave a small nod. "Did you have a... nightmare?"

"... y-yeah." Came Gregory's quiet answer. Freddy slowly began rubbing the boy's back. "I am sorry, Gregory." He began, trying to think of how to comfort the still-frightened-boy. "What was it about?" Gregory averted eye contact, and said nothing. "You do not want to talk about it right now?" A shake of his head to indicate 'no'. "Very well, you do not need to if you do not want to."

Freddy fell silent for a moment, still trying to think of how to help the boy fall back asleep without having any more nightmares. A idea came to him. Stopping his action of rubbing Gregory's back, Freddy instead went to grab the single pillow from the bed. Gregory, still sniffling somewhat and wiping tears from his face, watched as the bear then took any blankets from off the bed—even going as far as taking the spare one stored underneath. Freddy went back to his previous spot, and adjusted the pillow and blankets in his lap. "Here, come lay on my lap."

"O-Okay..." Gregory shakily got off the bed, and went to snuggle up with Freddy. The bear adjusted the blankets on the boy's small form, making sure he was comfy where he was. "Are you comfortable, Gregory?" Gregory gave a nod against the pillow that had been propped against Freddy's chest. "Good. Try and get some more sleep, and I will protect you from any more nightmares."

"... th-thank you, Freddy." Gregory quietly thanked, trying to fall back asleep as Freddy returned to rubbing his back. "You are welcome. Sleep well, superstar."
