Bill drove carefully as he turned the van onto the the gravel driveway. A dog ran about, barking excitedly upon seeing the vehicle pull up. It's barking elicited the attention of a teenage girl who'd been out feeding the humble bundle of farm animals. She set down the bucket she'd been holding, as the van came to a stop. Bill turned the engine off, before stepping out of the vehicle. The girl smiled. "Hiya, Detective!" She greeted, as whoever was in the passenger side disembarked. "Hey, Jill! Where's your grandpa?"

"Inside. I'll go get him." Jill said, hurrying off to the two-story farm house. Climbing out of the van via the passenger door, Gregory watched as the girl went inside the house. He looked over the dark brown building with white trim, admiring it a little. Freddy was admiring it, too. "What a nice house." He commented, to which Bill smirked. Jill returned outside, followed by an older man looking to be nearing his 60's, at the most. "Bill, hi!"

"Hey, Ben." Bill greeted in reply, as he approached his friend to shake his hand. Ben chuckled a little. "I almost forgot you were coming." He confessed. Jill spotted Freddy and Gregory—the boy staying close to the bear's side. Her periwinkle eyes lit up a little. "Oh! Is that them, Detective?" She asked curiously, offering Gregory a small, friendly wave. Though he didn't reciprocate the gesture, Gregory did give her a small smile. "Yep." Bill confirmed, turning around to look at the duo. He gestured for them to coming closer, to which they did. "Meet Freddy and Gregory."

"Pleasure to make your acquaintances." Ben said, as he reached a hand in the animatronic's direction. Freddy paused, not entirely familiar with the greeting gesture. So, he awkwardly held his metal hand close to the older man's, who then took hold of his and gave it a gentle shake. "The pleasure is ours." Freddy answered with a smile. "And, thank you for having us." Ben gave a nod. "Anything to keep a kid safe. Bill told me all about how you've been doing that for Gregory, here."

"He has?" Freddy looked to Bill, who was smirking. Jill clasped her hands before herself with a bright smile. "Of course! I've never heard of an animatronic caring for a little boy before, but it's awesome to see!" She commented. Ben then looked down to Gregory. "Would you like my Jill to take you to the guest bedroom?" Gregory looked between Ben and Jill, seeing the friendly look on Jill's face. He then looked up at Freddy, who gave him a look of reassurance. "I will join you inside shortly, superstar."

"Okay." He looked back to Jill and nodded. "Alright! Come with me!" The kind teenager held a hand out for Gregory to take, and once holding the boy's hand, she led him back to the farm house—leaving the two men and animatronic outside to speak amongst themselves a bit longer before Bill would take his leave.

Gregory never thought himself to be the type of kid to enjoy reading. He thought it was boring. But, then again, he hadn't had access to a good library, or even books in general to be able to know that about himself. In the guest bedroom, there was a bookshelf with books of many different genres. Some were more adult oriented, while some were pre-teen oriented. The spine of a science-fiction had caught the boy's eyes. 'The Boy at the End of the World'. It seemed interesting, so he took it out and begun to read—while enjoying a nice banana.

(The kid had found a banana tucked away among the books in a small basket. The yellow fruit was the only thing in the basket, and it's placement felt strange. Though, it was still ripe and yellow, clearly safe to eat. A free banana is a free banana, after all!)

Suddenly, there was a metallic knock on the open door of the room. Looking up from the book, Gregory saw Freddy standing there, awkwardly hunched to fit through the door. He couldn't help but snicker at the sight. "Are you too big for this house, Freddy?" The bear shook his head 'no', while going over to sit on the floor next to the bed—lest his weight crush the bed frame. "I am merely a bit tall for the doors is all, thankfully."

All-but-slamming the office door behind herself, Vanessa angrily walked over to the desk, where sat her work computer. Without needing to think, she logged herself in with swift typing, before then loading up a program. She pulled out a stick note from the desk's drawer. It had a code written on it in blue pen ink. Navigating the program she'd opened, she scrolled through the selection of animatronic serial numbers, finding the one of the star mascot.

A pop-up window asked for a password.

Looking down at the sticky note, Vanessa entered the password. The pop-up window lit up green, before disappearing. She now had access to the animatronic's entire system. If she'd been able to obtain the password sooner, this game of cat and mouse would've been won by now. She brushed the momentary frustration off, heading to see about checking the animatronic's tracker. A way to accurately locate where it was in that moment. Vanessa smirked, as the program loaded.

Freddy was sitting in the living room, leaving the three humans to their supper. Gregory was appearing to adjust fine to this new arrangement. It made the bear happy to see. It also made him happy that Benjamin and Jill didn't seam to take issue with him. They treated him like he was a new friend. He'd been somewhat nervous of whether or not they'd like him, and now he felt relieved that they did.

With his ears perked up in a happy manner, Freddy closed his yellow eyes. He wanted to take advantage of meal time to run a check of his system... and try again with that password. The animatronic's posture stiffened a little, as he ran the usual checks of his programs. It didn't take long for him to finish that, and move onto finding the right password for those locator settings.

Before he was able to do anything, a small pop-up appeared in his HUD.

The bear blinked. He hadn't done that. After the small pop-up disappeared, a message then appeared in his HUD that nearly caused his systems to freeze.

A.N. Well then, that was the end of Book 1! Thank you so much for reading this story, and for the support it got. I've decided to end it as 'Book 1', since I was beginning to feel as though the story was dragging on a bit, and I was getting the worse writer's block with this book in particular. So, after some suggestions, I figured bringing it to a close would be the best option. After I've taken some time away from the story properly, I'll probably pick it back up with a sequel. I can't say for sure when that'll be, though.

(Any outstanding prompts I may have missed will be set aside for the next story, so don't worry!)

Thank you all again for reading this story, and I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did writing it. Have an amazing day, you amazing people!
