One day until the festival starts. Just the day before, the event organizers had told Gregory he was no longer needed with helping get everything ready, as everything was set to go. In the short time of working for them, the boy had earned almost seventy dollars. He seemed quite proud of himself for that.
While walking back to the van, the duo had decided to stop in at a small clothing store to buy Gregory a jacket. After all, fall was coming and it would soon become colder. Later on, they'd also need to buy him a warmer outfit, but for now, the boy seemed happy with his new navy colored jacket. Freddy was happy that Gregory was happy.
On a whim, the animatronic had decided that the boy have supper in the park. After all, there were plenty of picnic tables, and a few food stands were set up selling various food. Gregory agreed, and made a b-line to the first hamburger vendor he saw. Once he'd payed for a single hamburger, and the vendor had given the food to the boy, Gregory followed Freddy over to one of the picnic tables.
"I can't wait for the festival, it's gonna be awesome!" Gregory commented, before taking a bite into his burger. Freddy gave a small smile. "It looks like it will be." He agreed, trying to sound enthusiastic about it. The boy noticed this, and after swallowing his bite of food, Gregory asked, "Aren't you excited?"
"Yes. Yes, of course I am excited, superstar!" Gregory tilted his head, as his eyes narrowed a little. "Doesn't sound like it." The bear sighed, and shook his head a little. "You are... right. You are very intuitive, Gregory." Freddy noted, almost sounding proud of that fact. "Then, what's wrong?"
"Well, you see, for an event such as the Festival to take place, there will have to be sponsors." Freddy began to explain, as Gregory continued eating his supper. "These sponsors may come in the form of large businesses. One of the Festival's main sponsors... are Fazbear Entertainment." The bear told, sounding a little worried. Gregory continued to eat, processing what he'd just been told. "So... does that mean people who work for Fazbear Entertainment will be there?"
"It is a possibility, yes." Freddy answered, before then adding, "And it is also a possibility that if their representatives spot me, that they will probably take me back to the Pizzaplex." Gregory slowly lowered his half-eaten burger onto the wrapped. "... They will?" An apologetic nod was the animatronic's response. "I am concerned about attending the Festival, because if I am taken back to the Pizzaplex, then I do not know what will happen to you if I cannot protect you."
"Then... Well, you can... um..." Gregory tried to think of something on the spot as to how to get around such a problem. No ideas came to mind at the moment. "But, do not worry, Gregory. I am not prohibiting you from attending the Festival. I am only saying you will be going by yourself." A small look of disappointment formed on the boy's face. "Oh... okay, then."
"Perhaps," Freddy began again, trying to help cheer the boy up a little. "You could win a prize for me? That way, I won't be completely left out." Gregory shrugged. "Yeah, I can do that... maybe there'll be some cool stuff you'd like, too." The bear smiled. "Thank you, superstar." A moment later, the boy continued eating his supper.
As silence came over the two, another park visitor passed them by. They appeared to have finished reading a newspaper, and as they passed by a park bench, they dropped it on the seat. Freddy noticed, and glanced to who it was who had just littered. They shouldn't have done that. "Excuse me, Gregory." The bear said, before getting up to go dispose of the newspaper properly. However, the front page article caught Freddy's attention before he could do so.
Gregory had noticed how Freddy had paused where he stood, staring at the newspaper in his hand. "Freddy? What is it?" Freddy quickly glanced back over his shoulder to Gregory, before crumpling up the newspaper. "Nothing, superstar." He answered, finally throwing it out.

It was about that time in the evening where Gregory would settle in for the night. Getting under his covers, Gregory couldn't help but notice how quiet Freddy had gotten since throwing away the newspaper. "Hey, Freddy?" The bear's gaze shifted to the boy. "Was there something on that newspaper?"
"Erm... it was nothing important, Gregory." Freddy told, trying to play it off as no big deal. "Just a story that had caught my interest for a moment." Gregory hummed, though he didn't quite believe that. Before the boy had opportunity to ask anything else, Freddy suddenly changed the topic. "Do you think you will sleep well tonight?"
"Um, yeah, I think." Gregory answered, sounding a little unsure. "Gregory, may I ask what your nightmares were about? Maybe by telling me, they will no longer have an effect on you." Gregory gave a small shrug, still a little hesitant. "Um..." He quietly began. "It's... about the Pizzaplex."
"Oh... about being chase by... my friends?" Gregory gave a small nod. "I see." Sighing, Freddy went on to say, "I still do not think they were in control of themselves. My friends would never behave like that, I assure you." He told. "They are always so kind, and engaging with children." Freddy's gaze wandered off a moment. "Chica would always serve birthday cakes to parties, and Roxy would race with the kids—she'd even let the younger ones win." He told with a small chuckle. "And Monty, well, he's a bit aggressive with some of the kids, to be honest, however, he is the self proclaimed 'King of Golf'."
"Sorta sounds like you miss them." Gregory commented. "I do..." Freddy confessed, ears falling. "Maybe one day I can bring you back to the Pizzaplex, and they will be nice to you." Gregory shrugged, smiling a little. "I'd like that." Freddy smiled, before bringing the conversation back to going to bed. "Well then, get some sleep, superstar. You'll need a lot of energy for tomorrow!"
"Oh, okay." Getting comfortable, Gregory pulled the blanket over himself. "Goodnight, Freddy." Freddy settled back and answered, "Sleep tight, Gregory."
