"Here you are, kid." Bill said, leaning down to hand Gregory the ceramic plate, which had a freshly made sandwich atop it's surface. "Thanks." Gregory answered, barely looking to the man as he took the plate. The boy's attention was immediately back on Kurtis, who was fixing Freddy up. "How much longer will this take?" He asked, taking a nibble from the sandwich. Kurtis shrugged. "Once that car battery is charged up, I'll re-install it. That'll hold him over until I can get him a better battery."

"Okay... If his battery is charging, then what are you doing?" Wiping his forehead with his wrist, Kurtis paused a moment. "Freddy here seemed a bit beat up to begin with. What even happened?" Both men looked over to Gregory, who stopped mid bite. His gaze fell. "I uh... don't wanna talk about it." Crouching down on the garage floor next to his nephew, Bill put a hand on the boy's knee. "Is this about the woman who was following ya?" A small nod. "Why was she following after you?"

"She just wants to take Freddy away." Gregory answered, gaze wandering back to the dormant animatronic. "Well," Kurtis slowly began. "Freddy was on the side of their van. That must mean she works for the people who own him. They just want their animatronic back, I'm guessing." Gregory's expression changed into a small pout. "They can't have him! Freddy promised he'd protect me, not leave me!"

"He did, now?" Bill asked. The boy nodded. With a small sigh, the sergeant considered his next question carefully. "Kid, is Freddy stolen?" Gregory adamantly shook his head 'no'. "No! He wanted to come with me!" Bill looked over his shoulder and exchanged glances with Kurtis. "He'll tell you himself once he's turned on if you don't believe me!"

"Woah, now, I didn't say we don't believe you!" Bill said, raising a hand in defense. "It was just a question." Gregory's gaze fell again, as he took another bite of the sandwich. "You said Freddy wanted to go with you. What do you mean by that?" Bill then asked, as Kurtis returned to fixing Freddy up. Gregory said nothing, but simply went to eating his sandwich. "Look, you aren't in any trouble here, kid. If you tell me, maybe I can help you." Still no answer. "Gregory?"

"Righty, that's the last of it." Kurtis suddenly announced, setting his tools aside. "That battery should be all charged up, I'll go get it." Brown eyes lighting up a little, Gregory watched as Kurtis got up to go get the battery. Bill shook his head a little, deciding to let the subject go for now. "Great." Standing up, the man then said, "I'm gonna go brew myself some coffee. You want some, Kurtis?"

"Sure!" Kurtis called from the other side of the garage. With a nod, Bill went back into the house.

Remaining quiet as he saw next to Freddy, Gregory continued eating his sandwich. Kurtis quickly returned with the car battery in hand, kneeling down in front of Freddy again. The boy watched as he did the very same 'repair' he himself did almost a month prior. Kurtis made sure the battery was installed properly, before closing Freddy's chest cavity again. "Okay... where's the power switch, again?"

"Um, here." Gregory reached over and switched it himself. Kurtis hummed, sitting back a little as the two waited for the animatronic to power on. It took a minute, but eventually, Freddy blinked a few times, before his posture straightened up again. "Freddy?" The bear looked around, a bit confused as to where he was, but his gaze eventually fell on Gregory. "Hello, superstar!" Smiling, Gregory threw himself onto Freddy for a hug—the bear's large arms wrapping around the smaller boy. "Freddy, how's everything running?"

"I appear to be functioning at 97% capacity." Kurtis raised a brow. "What about the other 3%?" He asked. "This battery is not equipped to function 100% as it was not designed for me. It just so happens to keep me powered." Freddy explained. "Okay, so other than that everything's all good?" The bear nodded. "Good. I'll get you a new battery here soon, so don't worry." Kurtis told, beginning to put the tools away. "Thank you."

"Alright, now if you need anything at all, I'll leave the back door unlocked." Bill explained, talking with Freddy and Gregory—who stood by the van. The van had been moved around the back of his house, out of the way of prying eyes. Gregory had also said how he preferred to sleep there again that night, even though Bill had a spare room. "Whether it be a glass of water, or you wake up needing the washroom."

"Okay." Gregory chirped. "Thank you very much for your hospitality, Sergeant." Freddy thanked. Bill waved him off. "Please, call me Bill. I'm off duty." The bear nodded. "Bill, then." The man chuckled a little. "Well then, sleep tight Gregory, and I'll see you in the morning." Bill said, before looking up to the animatronic again. "Wake me up if anything urgent happens, you hear?"

"I will." Bill gave a nod, before heading back inside the house. "Goodnight!" With that, the two were left alone.

Looking back to Gregory, Freddy watched as he began crawling into the van. He followed suite, the two going about their usual nightly routine. As the boy settled into bed, Freddy tucked him in. "How are you pajamas, Gregory?" Freddy asked, sitting down a bit more comfortably next to the small bed. "They're cozy."

"It was generous of Bill to lend them to you." The bear noted, smiling. "Yeah." Gregory agreed, before a yawn escaped his mouth. "Okay, get some rest superstar. You're very tired." Gregory hummed something in response, before getting more comfortable. His brown eyes then slowly closed, as the boy went to sleep. "Goodnight."
