I'm just fucking tired. Second trimester is the worst. Leg cramps, round ligament pains, heartburn, I'm urinating quite frequently nowadays. The one that's more annoying is the stretch marks, stretch marks?! I've always hated that thing.
The most beautiful thing that has ever happened to me since this pregnancy happened to me this afternoon. I felt the movement of the baby. My beautiful daughter moved! Don't mind me, I don't know the gender yet, the doctor said I could come check the baby's sex via an ultrasound since I'm in my second trimester but I told her, she shouldn't bother. Y'know why? 'Cause I know my baby is a princess..
"Ms. Wilson, it's absolutely normal. Okay? I can see you're very much elated with the news."
"Yes, doctor. I'm so happy, when I felt her moving. I was scared, I thought it was something bad that happened."
"Oh no! It's nothing serious.Everyone passes through this. I said I was going to talk to you about something."
"Yes, doctor. You mentioned it earlier, so what is it?"
"Urhmm"She coughed. I was feeling scared now. Did something happen to my baby?.
"Ms. Wilson, did you at any point in your life consume drugs? Like hard drugs?." I paused mentally. I ...I ...
"I did. But I haven't had any in a while now." I told her hoping that all was well with my baby.
"Hmm...you have to refrain from any form of hard drugs. For the safety of your child and yourself. Take care." I nodded standing up from the chair.
"Thank you doctor" she smiled as I walked out. My mind wasn't at peace. Will all those stupid decisions I made back then come back to bite me in the ass? I really hope my baby is fine and nothing happens to her. I knew the drugs I took then were harmful, but I just used them to hide my pains, my sorrows, to be happy, what I didn't know then, was that I'd be in a situation like this. The doctor didn't sound to convincing, I really hoped all was well. And for the first time in years, I prayed. I said a prayer to God for the protection of my baby. I can't even remember the last time I closed my eyes to pray. It's been so long, but for my baby, I did it.
"Valerie, where did you get these dresses from eh? How? These are designers worth hundreds of thousands. So..how did you get the money for them?" Skye asked with a questioning eyebrow. Justice sent me some designs the day before yesterday and I made my choice for both me and Skye and it got delivered today. I was planning on asking for a discount since they were too expensive but guess what that handsome gentleman did? He freaking gave me for free!
"Can you just take a chill pill and calm your ass down?"
"How would I? Why would I? D'you know how expensive these stuffs are?"
"What can I say? When you know the CEO and owner, you get stuffs for free." I shrugged still painting my nails. I was in my room keeping myself busy when Skye barged in with couture d'ethereal customized shopping bags which I left on the plush sofa earlier today when the delivery guy brought it.
"What d'you mean by 'when you know the CEO and owner'?" I shrugged.
"What did you hear? Well... if only you'd apply sense, we'd be getting more of these"
"What are you going on about?" Skye asked obviously getting annoyed.
"Babe, the brain and beauty of these designer collection was right under our nose all these while"
"I don't get. Who? Valerie, you're getting me angry"
"You are already angry. We've been with a billionaire all these while oh. "
"Now...you're just keeping me in suspense." I laughed at her expression.
"Well....to cut the long interesting story short, Justice Wellington, also known as someone's Jay" I winked at her "is the owner and CEO of Couture d'ethereal. Thank you!" I said with a mock bow and a grin on my face. She laughed and I smiled.
"You're joking right?"
"I wish I was." She flew on my bed with pure interest in her eyes.
"So... Jay is the CEO of Couture d'ethereal. This is totally unbelievable. The same guy who came here the other day. The same guy who I savaged. Wow. So how did you get these? You see this particular dress" she brought out a sleeveless sequinned knee length dress with gold sparkles on it. "I saw it online. Guess how much? A freaking 120 thousand naira. I've saved up for it though. But now you're handing it over to me. How did you buy it from him?"
"Didn't you hear what I said earlier? I didn't pay. I wanted to but he didn't let me. I told him how much you loved his designs and he said you could have it."
"All because of me?"
"I told you he liked you. Babe, give this guy a chance. I'm not asking you or forcing you to date him. But at least, one date wouldn't hurt." I told her with pleading eyes.
"Valerie, I'm not cheap. Just because he gave me an expensive dress doesn't mean I have to go on this date with him."
"I didn't say you are. No one said that. I just need you to reason him, just this once."
"Are you doing this because of he's rich? Because of what you can gain" ouch...she just called me cheap in the most nicest way. Note the sarcasm.
"Don't be stupid. I told you to talk to him even before I figured out. It's not like I care what you do with your life anyways. Since, you said 'you're not cheap' which clearly means you don't need it. I'll take it back to him. I don't want him spending unnecessary money on an already fruitless journey." I said dragging the dress from her and putting it back in the customized bag.
"Wait...wait..I'll go on the date with him. If I don't like him, forget it." She said holding my hands and a big grin broke across my face. I pulled her into a hug.
"Thanks a lot. Y'know I'm not doing this for the gifts right? Heck...I didn't even know about this designers until you kept going on and on about them. I just want you to y'know...move on from this stupid crush you have on that French guy." She eyed me.
"I love him"
"No...you don't. Y'know what? You do. So....just give Justice chance, would ya?"
"Yeah. Just because of you though. I can't believe I've got this."
"Imagine getting married to him. Your wedding gown will be lit and me? I'll be a princess."she smiled but eyed me.
"See who wasn't looking at the benefits" she added before she hissed.
"Well...who no like better thing abeg?" I told her and she smiled.
"I'll go put it on and see how it looks on me. I bet it would be wonderful."
Few minutes later, she came back with the dress on. She looked.... stunning. The dress was like a second skin and the glitters made the dress sparkle more. She twirled smiling like am idiot.
"How do I look?" I sent her a chef's kiss, she smiled and started giving stupid poses.
"Justice would be so fixed on you." I told her and she turned swiftly.
"Is he going to be here?" Ooops, I couldn't tell her that.
"Nah. It was a mistake. I'm just overly excited. I mean...I wish he was but... unfortunately he's.. he's not." She eyed me warily but I won't give in.
"Whatever. I'm going to go shower. Have you eaten?"
"Yeah, I had fruit salad and milkshake."
"That's not good and me I'm hungry oh."
"Should I prepare your something?" I asked her.
"No, don't bother. I'll do it myself." She went out of the room.
How's everything going, my people?
Are y'all doing alright?
