I sat on the study table in my bedroom, reading through series of books, notepads and jotters. I'm finally writing my final exams. I would be done with university life and be a graduate by next month. I had to study very hard.

It was causing a strain on my relationship with Valerie, but I hope she understands. I can't afford to fail.

After I was done reading, I closed my book and dragged my feet to the bed, before crashing on it. It was midnight and I hadn't slept a wink. I said I was going to call Valerie before I go to bed, but I'm too tired and it's already very late by the way.

Lately, I've been overdosing on energy drinks and coffee just to be active. I can't afford to fail or get below average. You might think I'm nerdy, but I don't and I hate joking with exams.

I woke up the next day, made a cup of coffee for myself, ate two slice of bread and I was good to go. I picked up my keys and my bag leaving the flat. I had a lecture to attend. The rate at which I'm going with the number of caffeine in my system is very much alarming.

After the long, stressful exams I had, I walked out of my faculty building. I saw Alex and walked up to him.

"Bro, hafar naw" Alex said shaking me.

"Stressed, is the keyword" I told him and he chuckled. He said he was hungry, I was too but I wanted to see Valerie before anything.

I called her but cut the call when I saw her approaching with that stupid guy from that evening. She was laughing so hard at what he said, was he flirting with my girl?

"Ahan...bro calm down. See the way you dey eye them?" Alex said and I glared at him.

"I don't like that guy" I stated.

"Because he's making your girlfriend laugh?" Alex teased and I hissed.

I think Valerie saw us, 'cause she waved him goodbye and was walking towards us with a big smile on her face. I took time to take in her appearance. She was in yellow sleeveless sundress radiating like the sun in that cute smile of hers that could melt the hearts of men.

"You're whipped guy" Alex said as he snacked my head. Oooops..did I say my thoughts out loud?

"Hey baby" she said engulfing me in a hug. She smelt so nice, of roses and icecream. "Hey Alex" before giving him a side hug.

"How are you doing, sunshine?" Alex asked her and I nudged him painfully as she smiled.

"Na my babe you dey call sunshine? Nadia come and see ohh" I said and they chuckled.

"Where were you going? And where have you been?" I turned asking Valerie.

"Hmm.. possessive much. Well, I was about grabbing lunch with Timi, but knowing you don't like him and the fact I saw you here, I decided to come see you. And I've been around, you're the one no one's seeing and I understand."

"If I wasn't here, would you go for the lunch date with Timi?"

"I don't see a reason, why not? I'm famished and it's not a lunch date, it's just simple lunch. Don't read too much into it"

"Whatever. I just don't like him"I told her. "C'mon get into the car, Alex and I were going for lunch." She hopped into the back seat.

"Ohh finally, I thought you were going to ask your stupid insecure questions all day?" Alex said

We got into the car and drove off to the nearest restaurant we thought was nice. Valerie and I went over to the counter to order the food.

I had fried rice and chicken with salad, Valerie had spaghetti Bolognese with salad and Alex just simply had fish and chips. The lady at the counter gave me my bill of #7500.00 and I paid and carried the tray to our table while Valerie carried the second tray.
