Balloons were everywhere in the restaurant. Many food prepared with people of high-class strutting in with their head held high. They all looked too expensive for my liking. The interior designer that designed the whole restaurant, I must say, did a great job. Everywhere was beautiful indeed.
I was in my mustard-colored dress which stopped some inches below my knee. It had a deep V-neck and puffy sleeves. It wasn't too fitted because of my bump but it enhanced my shape. My boobs came out as well, ever since my pregnancy, my almost invisible boobs has begun to show face. I can't help but thank Justice for this pretty dress.
"Urhm..hey Valerie" I turned to the familiar voice.
Justice
He was putting on a sleek three-piece black suit. He looked really handsome, I must say. He also looked nervous. Huh? Why?
"Ohh hey Justice" I said pulling him in a hug.
"Urhmm..you look really pretty."
"Well, what can I say? All thanks to you and to me for slaying it. You should be paying me for modeling this dress for you, y'know? But don't worry, you've tried by giving me for free." He laughed at this. Finally,he's smiled.
"I should say thank you then?." He said smiling.
"Yes, you should. But before you ask, she's been overseeing everything going on today. I haven't even seen her today. But, she's coming." I winked at him and I caught him blushing, even if it was for a little while.
"No problem. So..how's my goddaughter doing?" I looked at him surprised.
"Who dash you goddaughter?" I said laughing. I already told him my baby is a girl.
"I am ohh. I've said my own-"
"Excuse me, sir?" A guy in white shirt and black slacks interrupted.
"Yeah?"
"Mr. Ochemba is here. He'd like to see you." The guy said like his speech was rehearsed.
"Ohh okay. I'll be there." And the guy sauntered off.
"Business calls. I'll speak to you later, okay?"
"You mean, you'll speak to Skye later right? I understand." I winked. I love disturbing this guy.
"Would you ever stop teasing me?. I'll see you later." He said before leaving. Now I'm alone ...again.
I hate parties like this. Boring shit. All these spoilt children of the rich and potbellied business men and showcasing wives of honorables. These women will come here to display their designer bags, shoes, dresses and expensive hair. It is this kind of women that you'll hear something like, 'this nails cost 100,000 naira...by glamourz beauty place. Isn't it beautiful and elegant? You should try doing it as well.' Sick people.
A lady bumped into me as I was walking over to the section where the caterers were serving food. I'm famished ehn. But this stupid, blind girl naw has bumped into my bump. Can't she see?
"Are you blind as well as stupid?" I heard the over pitchy and faux British accent of the obese pig in my front.
"You must be stupid" I told her laughing. "You bumped into me, and you're still barking. You can't even apologize. I can see your fatness has blocked your sight as well as your sense of reasoning. Obese pig." I hissed and strutted away. I could see the shock and pain in her face as I walked away. Next time, she'll learn to be more polite.
Tears streamed down my face. You wanna the funny thing? I don't even know why I'm crying. This pregnancy hormone be messing with my head.
"Hey, see you here" Skye was beaming. I took my time to access her. She was in that dress from Justice and damn, was she looking hot. She even looked more pretty in it than that evening. The makeup highlighted her facial features and her silver heels, mah-velous.
