VALERIE.
After a long, strenuous three hours lectures, I walked back home with Timi. He said he was going my direction so he could just walk with me.
"You look exhausted." He said examining my face.
"I am exhausted." I told him and he shook his head. We stopped, no, he stopped at a provision store and bought whatever he bought. He came back to where I was standing with a black polythene.
"Here, a bottle of fanta to refresh your system. You like sausage, don't you?" I nodded. Abeg.. anything would do. He handed me a nylon containing two sausage. I mouthed a thank you and he nodded smiling. He ate his as we walked back to my hostel. We gisted about the 'what is' and what is not in this school.
A car pulled over by my side, I was about giving the driver an earful until I saw the face. It was Malik, he didn't look too pleased. He came down from the car.
"Hey boo" I said hugging him.
"What are you doing here?" He asked me glaring at Timi.
"I'm heading back home with my friend. Ohh that's true. So Malik this is Timi, my seatmate-coursemate and close friend. Timi, this is Malik my boyfriend" Timi smiled stretching his hands towards Malik for a handshake but Malik just stared at it.
"Thank you for escorting her. I'll take it from here." He told Timi who just smiled.
"It's alright. Valerie, I'll see you some other time in class. Byee" I waved him goodbye too and muttered a sorry to him, to which he just smiled.
"Malik, what was the meaning of that?" I asked him once I was in the car.
"Meaning of what? I helped you. That's what!" He said and I turned my face out through the window.
"Babe, I'm sorry okay? I just didn't like the way he smiles or looks at you. " He apologized placing his hands on mine.
"Awwwn. My baby is jealous. But seriously...you're reading too much into these things." I said pinching his cheeks.
"What d'you expect? When I have a badass pretty girlfriend?" He said and I chuckled.
"How was your therapy on Thursday? I'm sorry I couldn't make it" Yahh, Malik didn't drop me neither did he pick me up. He said he was studying. This is his final semester in school.
"It was good. Why are you asking though? It's not like you've not been told everything already." I rolled my eyes.
"That's 'cause I haven't. Doctor Niyin has a thing for keeping the confidentiality of his clients. He would only advice me on some cases, but he's never told me anything you told him." I smiled.
"It's alright." I said. Thank goodness this chair is a recliner, I reclined backwards for comfort.
"Someone's tired" Malik cooed.
"And hungry" I chipped in. He looked over at me with concern. He pulled the car to a halt. I half-opened my shut eyelids to see why he stopped.
