I gave him two shots before he started running, and I chased him all the way out the back door, past all the party guests, out the back gate, when two strong arms caught me.

I was in such a rage that I didn't care who was holding me, I just wanted to break free, but the arm's gripping me just tightened around me. I could feel tears burning up in my eyes again.

Megan stepped closer and tried to pry the baseball bat from my hands, in which she succeeded.

I looked on as Mike's truck sped away from my house, and when he finally turned the corner, and I could no longer see his truck, I turned around and looked into Lucan's eyes.

"How could he? How could he?" Was all I could say when fresh tears started forming in my eyes again.

Lucan just pressed me against his chest and held me tight, trying to comfort me.

*~*~*

It's been three weeks since Mike and I broke up, and I decided to apply for universities in New York.

After this story with Mike, I just wanted to get away from here. I just needed a change of scenery where no one knew me or felt sorry for me, and because we lived in such a small town, everyone knew about everything that happened, even how I had hit Mike with a baseball bat.

The boys started looking at me weird, and the girls were afraid of me like I was going to hit them or something.

I waited a month for a letter in the mail when I heard my mom shouting from downstairs. "Zenè gets down here! You got mail!"

She sounded like that creepy people from the internet. I hurried down the stairs, almost tripping and falling.

When I finally reached the bottom of the stairs, my Mom handed me a thick envelope.

I opened it ever so slowly, scared of what it was going to say. I then read the first line.

"Dear Miss Carter

We are proud to announce that you have been accepted to the University of American Musical and Dramatic Academy."

I couldn't read any further as I was so excited that I started jumping up and down.

My Mom just looked at me, shaking her head and walking away, not knowing what was going on.

My Dad came through the front door, and when he saw me jumping up and down, he just looked at me, smiled that radiant smile of his, and asked me if I was okay.

"I am fine, Dad. I just got a letter from a university in New York saying that I got accepted to the American Musical and Dramatic Academy or for short AMDA."

He looked at me, and I could see that he was happy for me, but I didn't know what his answer was going to be.

"There... is... no... way that you are going to that place."

I looked at him confused. "Dad?"

"No," He said loudly

"I was lucky enough to get a chance to study there, cause it's only the most talented people that get the opportunity to study there." I blurted out, feeling hurt by what he said.

Dad gave me a hug. "Fine, but I am not paying for anything. This one is all on you," He said with a smile on his face.

"Don't worry, Dad, I've got a scholarship." I gave him a big grin.

Mom was obviously eavesdropping from the kitchen because she came in with a big smile on her face, playfully hitting my Dad.

"We will send you pocket money to spend, sweetheart!"

It has been such a long time since I heard those words come out of her mouth. Sweetheart, it sounded weird hearing it.

She then embraced me. "I am so proud of you, and I know you will be the best student there. I know Nick is also so proud of you." A few tears were forming in her eyes.

It was hard for Mom to talk about Nick without shedding a tear.

"Nick is looking down right now, smiling at his baby sister," Dad smiled at me.

"I love you guys so much." I had tears in my eyes.

"We love you too, sweetheart." They said in perfect harmony.

I ran upstairs and started packing my stuff, suddenly realizing that I should be there in a week. There was still so much to do before leaving for New York and my new life.

Everyone in Westbrook knew that I was leaving and may be glad that the crazy girl is finally out of here.

I had this thought that came over me, was Mike going to come and say goodbye.

"Get him out of your head Zenè." I kept on reminding myself.

I've got to shake this feeling. We are not together anymore, and there is still someone out there for me.

He may not be perfect, but he will be mine, he will accept me as I am, and he will never cheat on me like Mike did.

He will also love me for me; he would care for me and only me.

*Stay sweet Xoxo .
