I decided to rather just stay at home today. I put on a few songs from my new 'One Directions' album 'Midnight Memories' enjoying the song 'You and I'.

I took out my phone and went through my text messages looking for Niall's message. I reread it a few times, making me smile every time, and I decided to text him back.

Hi, Niall.

Sorry for the late reply, just been busy at home and with my family. I would love to hang out with you. Can't wait to hear from you.

Love Miss Carter.

I had this goofy smile on my face when I pressed the send button. Seconds later a text came through, and it was from Aralynne.

Hi, Zenè can you Skype?

Hi, 'A', sure, just give me a few minutes, I just need to find a laptop.

Being the silly person that I was, I forgot my laptop back in New York, and now I had to find a way to get one.

I went downstairs, and once again I saw that everyone was doing their own thing, they didn't even notice me.

Mom was busy unpacking the old bookcase, throwing away perfectly good books. While throwing the books in a box mom got a paper cut and uttered a few choice words under her breath.

"Why? uuugh." Some of the blood dripped onto the floor, making me realized what had just happened.

"Mom? Are you okay?" I rushed to her side trying to help her.

"Yes Z, don't worry about it." She walked to the kitchen to get the first aid kit.

Being the weird family that we are, we had a few of those everywhere in the house, since I was the clumsy one and always scraping my knees and stuff.

Lucan was once again in front of the television watching sports with a bowl of popcorn and soda cans standing everywhere.

"Lucan, could I borrow your laptop, please?" I pleaded

"No, sorry Z forgot about it." He looked at me then back at the television, making a little stand-up motion, shouting 'Yes!' at the top of his lungs.

I rushed over to Jessica knowing that she had her laptop there, but I could see that she was busy with her work, so I walked past her over to LJ.

LJ was busy in dad's study, playing chess against himself. The photo of us as a once happy family was displayed against the wall.

Flashback

"Kids we need to go," Dad shouted from the bottom of the steps.

"I'm not ready yet." Jessica's voice came from the room, across the bathroom.

"This is going to be a disaster." Mom gave dad a kiss on the cheek.

"No, my love, it won't."

We got to the studio, and everything just went wrong, it was like watching a horror movie.

Mom's skirt ripped when she got out of the car. Dad's shoe broke on the walk to the studio.

Nick's white shirt got a stain on it, how that happened? Only he knew.

Jessica kept on complaining that she wore the wrong shoes.

LJ and Lucan kept on fighting about who was going to stand at the back and me, well, I fell and scraped my knee, leaving a big red bloodstain on my dress.

I walked over to LJ, giving him a little tap on the shoulder, trying not to give him a fright, since he didn't hear me come inside.

"Sorry to bother you LJ."

"No, it's fine, what can I help you with?"

"Could I borrow your laptop, please?"

"Sure, look in my room, in the closet next to my shoes, in the green bag."

"Thanks," I said, giving him a little smile.

I hurried upstairs and got the green bag from LJ's room. I set up the laptop in my room, texting Aralynne back.

"I am all set up, you can give me a call."

The call came through, and I quickly adjusted my seat and answered it. Seeing Aralynne's happy face on the other side.

"Hi, Zenè how are you?"

"You know, just busy with a lot of things." I enjoyed being behind the computer screen because Aralynne couldn't see my emotions.

"So I have a little secret to tell you." Aralynne moved to the side, displaying two boys behind her. I looked carefully, seeing that one was Zayn and the other Alex.

"What? Is Zayn there? Alex?" I blurted out.

"Alex came to visit his aunt here, so he surprised me this morning, and Zayn showed up two days ago," Zayn smiled happily and gave me a little wave from the back of the screen. I copied him and did the smile and the wave.

Our conversation went on for hours, and we talked about everything, she even told me how Zayn asked her out next to the Eiffel Tower.

"Before I leave. Is it fine if I call you Z?"

"Sure A that's what everyone calls me," I smiled and gave her a little thumbs up.

"I will be leaving on flight 108, a direct flight to New York. I don't know if Alex will be leaving before me, I will call you as soon as I get on the plane."

"Okay, enjoy the rest of your trip. See you soon."

"I will enjoy your family, love you, bye."

"Love you too, bye." I ended the call and sat back in my chair.

I could not wait to get back to Uni and my friends. I have missed them even more than I realized.
