I had taken a day off from work because I was going for my first ultrasound. I was giddy with excitement and could barely contain myself at the prospect of seeing the baby that was growing inside of me.
Niall told me that he would meet me there since he had an interview and would not be able to pick me up for my appointment. I don't mind really; I enjoy being on my own.
I enjoyed my work at the theatre, all the students were friendly towards me. They have been rehearsing every day as we had a play coming up, 'Snow White' and they were super excited.
I got dressed into something very comfortable since all my clothes started shrinking, it felt like I had to buy clothes every other week.
I was busy making my bed when the photo of Aralynne and I caught my attention. I saw a lot of her these days since she moved to London to be closer to Zayn.
He asked her to marry him a few days ago at a BBQ, he had specifically arranged for popping the big question. She probably said yes a thousand times.
I was so happy for her, for them, they actually make a great couple. They already bought some baby things, spoiling my little peanut when it hasn't even been born yet.
I made a promise to her that they would be the Godparents and Niall agreed whole heartedly with me. Niall and I get along really well now and things are not awkward between us anymore.
We could have a normal conversation without any awkward moments or any silence between us. We discussed our situation at length and decided it was for the best not to be together. It was way better that way, less stress on the baby and me.
I arrived at the St Thomas' Hospital and headed for the 8th floor. I decided to rather take the stairs as it was the only exercise that I will get for the day.
The first four floors were a breeze but from there, made me rethink my decision of taking the stairs.
I eventually arrived on the eighth floor, blowing like a beached whale and wobbled to the nearest chair catching my breath.
"Well, hello beautiful, do you come here often?" I slowly turned my head to the side to look at the person.
Niall was already waiting for me, and I hadn't seen him when I stumbled into the reception area. He had this big, heartwarming smile on his face. I tried faking a smile, but I was still out of breath.
"Hey, yourself. Am I late?"
"No, technically I am early."
"I thought you had an interview?"
"Yeah, but we finished a bit earlier than anticipated. So, I came straight here."
He told me all about the interview and how Louis accidentally spilled water on the interviewer when he went to greet her.
He told me how Liam ripped his pants when he took a seat next to Harry, who incidentally got a brush stuck in his unruly hair, but no one even noticed it, not until they arrived there. Louis was once again the one that was blamed for everything that went wrong.
Zayn was sick, some kind of stomach bug and couldn't make it to the interview and how he spilled ketchup on his shirt when he wanted to eat his hot dog. Luckily he always had a spare shirt in the car.
"Sounds like fun." I couldn't help myself and just started laughing.
The receptionist cleared her throat and looked sternly at us. Niall giggled like a preteen, and I jumped up. I walked over to the counter and gave her my name.
"Thank you, Mrs. Carter, please take a seat. The doctor will be with you momentarily."
"Thank you."
"One more thing Mrs. Carter. This is a doctor's office, please keep your voices down."
I smiled politely, nodded my head and turned my back to her. Niall nearly cracked himself laughing at my expense.
"Hey, it is not funny."
"If you had seen your face you would have done the same."
The doctor came out of the room with a clipboard in her hand reading out the name that was next.
"Mr. and Mrs. Carter you can come on through."
We both stood up and walked over to her, smiling at her wrong pronunciation.
"We are not married," I told her quickly and went into the room.
She apologized profusely, but we just assured her that it was okay with us. I made my way to the bed and Niall helped me to get on.
"So, you are already three months along, and this is your first scan?"
"Yes, I have been so busy at work and with me moving from New York, that this was the earliest appointment I could get."
The doctor talked a little about how I shouldn't drink or smoke or do unexplained things to my body, all the while; she was busy getting everything ready for the scan.
