Auditions and Action Heroes

The weekend went by really quickly. I spent it with Aralynne, we went shopping, and all she could talk about was One Direction.

She didn't show me any pictures of them, she just always said that they were cute.

One Direction this, One Direction that. I was already sick of them, and I didn't even know them.

I hurried down to Miss Paula's class for the audition, and when I arrived, there were already a few girls and boys there.

"Zenè you are next." Miss Paula cheered from the front.

I went on stage so nervous. What if the words don't come out right? Or I forget what to sing? What if I open my mouth, and nothing comes out?

The words, breath in, breath out, played over and over in my head.

I sang Kelly Clarkson 'Because of you.'I loved that song and her being from Texas, I looked up to her.

I could feel everyone staring at me, but I just closed my eyes and sang my heart out.

Whenever I sang, it was like the music took over, and I felt like an entirely different person.

"The results will be up on Friday in my class." Miss Paula stated

Everyone left, that is when Miss Paula called me back.

"Zenè could I please talk to you?"

"Sure, Miss Paula."

"You have an amazing talent, I am going to ask Mr. Austen to put you in the band."

"I don't think I am ready yet, Miss Paula, please don't."

She looked at me, and I knew that she wasn't going to take no for an answer. She waved goodbye and walked away.

Next morning

I woke up with a beep on my phone. Looking at the screen, I saw that I got a text from Megan. I have not heard anything from her since the party.

I unlocked my phone, opened the text, and started reading it.

"Hi Zenè, hope you are still enjoying New York? I want to ask you a favor. There is a comic book 'Avengers Age of Ultron' that I want for little Ryan. I heard that there is a comic book store near where you are. If you could please get it for him, I would appreciate it. Love, Meg xxx."

I texted Megan back since not hearing from her this long. I missed her and the twins a lot.

"Hi Meg, New York is great, I just miss you guys a lot. I will get the comic for him today, maybe a few others as well. Love Z xxx."

I stood up from the bed and got dressed. Since not having class today, I was free to do whatever I wanted.

I went over to the comic book store and started searching for the book.

I found it after a few minutes of searching when this dark-haired guy grabbed it out of my hands

"Hey! I found it first. That is mine." I said.

"But I really need this copy," He replied

He looked like a model, he has dark hair and big brown eyes. His arm was covered in tattoos. I could see the Zap tattoo first cause it stood out.

"No, seriously, dude, I also need this."

"Why does a girl like you need a comic book?" He kept looking at me.

"It's for my nephew, so stop asking questions and give me the book."

"No way, this is mine now." He turned around and walked away.

I started turning red in my face, New York is so different from Texas because there you won't take anything from someone when they had it first.

I then went over to the guy sitting behind the counter.

"Can I help you?" He said, chewing his gum so that the whole world could see.

"Yes, please, I need this comic book Avengers Age of Ultron.'"

"We will get some in next week, I will keep you one if you want," He said, displaying the gum in his mouth one last time to make me nauseous.

"Please," I said and walked out of the store.

I knew now that I could come back and get it for little Ryan. I took out my phone and texted Megan, telling her about the comic book.

"I will get it next week. Give Ryan and Emily a big kiss from me. Love you, Z XXX."

"Thanks so much. I hope that you will come and visit us soon, the twins miss you. They keep asking when Aunt Z is coming to visit them."

"Soon, I promise." I texted her back before putting my phone back into my jeans pocket.

I decided to explore New York some more before going back to the dorm.
