I woke up and looked at my clock, 7:57 it blinked back at me. My first class starts at 8:00 and I am going to be late on my first day.

I quickly got dressed in my favorite jeans and a random T-shirt that I got from my closet.

I hurried down the stairs out of breath, but I didn't want to be late for class, not on my first day.

When I stepped into the classroom, everyone was already in their seats.

"You're late Miss. . . . . . . ? "

"Zenè Carter," I said politely.

"Well, Miss Carter, you will be excused, for now, seeing as it is the first day of class. Please take a seat next to Mr. Nathan." He said with a deep voice while pointing at a chair beside a boy with dark hair and purple highlights.

He had what sounded like a French accent.

I walked over to my chair, trying not to make eye contact with anyone in the room because I was already the laughing stock of the class. I sat down next to Nathan, nodding my head.

"I am Mr. Austen; I will be your music teacher for this year," He said, pushing his glasses up onto his nose.

He turned around, and he started writing the class rules on the blackboard while he kept reading them out loud.

"1. Never be late for my class," He said, looking straight over at me, and I could feel everyone's eyes on me.

"2. Don't chew gum in my class."

"3. No cell phones. If I catch you on your phone, I will take it and break it."

The rules went on and on. I could see everyone was bored, but we had to listen.

"If you don't follow my rules, I will ask you to leave my class and find yourself another teacher," He said with a stern voice.

I was already scared of him, but I could handle this. I will follow the rules and stay in this class.

Music played a big part in my life. After Nick passed away, music was the only thing that made me escape from all the sadness.

"I want you guys to get to know each other. What that means is that I want you to hang out after class. Please stand up, say your name, and what instruments you play." Mr. Austen said.

One by one, everyone stood up and introduced themselves. We weren't that many in the class, about ten people at the most.

"I am Sandy. I play the violin." A girl with long blond hair stood up.

"I am Roger, and I play the guitar." A boy with light brown hair said.

"I am Nathan. I play the drums."

Everyone in the class stood up, and then it was my turn. I stood up scared of what to say. Everyone only knew one instrument to play.

"I am Zenè; I can play the guitar, piano, and I can also sing," I said and sat down quickly.

I could feel everyone looking at me and thinking that I am only a show-off

The class finished, and we were dismissed. I went back to my room, got my book, and went to the library.

The silence was great, and I sat there finishing my book 'Midnight in Paris'.

The librarian came over to me and told me it was closing time.

"What is the time?" I asked

"It's around eight now."

I put my book in my backpack and went outside; it was raining a lot. I took my phone from my jeans, wanting to call Aralynne, but with my luck, my battery died.

I walked in the rain, and I passed a nightclub that looked decent.

I went inside, thinking that maybe I could borrow someone's phone. The music was so loud, and I couldn't hear myself think.

I saw a guy standing at the bar, I went over to him asking him if I could borrow his phone. He looked at me, and I could see he was drunk.

He has light brown hair, kind of messy, sea blue/green eyes, and an amazing smile.

"Could I borrow your phone, please?"

"Sure, if I can kiss you." He slurred, almost falling over.

"No way."

He put his arms around my waist and pulled me closer, trying to kiss me. I pushed him away from me and ran outside.

I decided to walk back in the rain since men in New York are rude. I got back to my room soaking wet and shivering.

Why did all these bad things have to happen to me? I need a good luck charm, I thought to myself while drying off and putting on some dry clothes.

I sat on my bed, drying my hair with a towel when Aralynne walked into the room.

"What happened to you?"

"I had to walk a few blocks from the library in the rain," I said, kind of irritated

"Why didn't you call me."

"I wanted to call you, but my battery died, so I went into this nightclub, and this guy tried to kiss me when I asked him if I could borrow his phone."

"Yeah, that is why I don't date men in New York," She said, smiling.

"So you are not dating anyone at the moment?"

"No, I am waiting for my perfect guy. His name is Zayn Malik."

I looked at her confused because I didn't know who she was talking about.

"From One Direction silly." She said smiling and went on and on about One Direction, telling me all about them. What they liked to eat, favorite quotes, etc.

23:00 it showed on the clock and Aralynne and I decided to go to bed. I set my alarm for 6:30, not wanting to be late again.
