Jameson

Have you ever been scared?  I'm not talking about freaking out, because you saw a spider. No, I'm talking about scared something is too good to be true, and you're gonna end up with your heart shattered in the aftermath. Either way, I was scared. There was something so innocent and pure that called me to Emily. Sorta like God calling sinners to draw close to him. If that was the case, then I was the sinner, and Emily, well that girl was a saving grace. So that scared me. I believed in God, of course. That wasn't the issue. I had so much baggage in my life, that I was terrified I would ruin everything pure about Emmalynn Rose. Such a beautiful name, for a beautiful woman.

So in retrospect I was gonna walk away from that innocent beauty. She deserved better than the likes of me. The fact that I was the first man who met her parents told me that much. They expected the perfect man of God. I was far from perfect. Plus she was an open book, me on the other hand, well there were things that were better off left unsaid. But then that girl went and put her lips to mine, and every single thought about just walking away before I went and complicated things flew out the window.

It was now Sunday, and getting close to two in the afternoon. I went and knocked on Mac's hotel room door to see if he was gonna go with me. I knew he would. When girls in bikini's were involved, and water, there wasn't a single chance he would deny going.

His door swung open and a smirk pulled at his lips. "Jamey, you ready to go see these hotties?" Yeah. He was too much at times. But really he still wasn't over Katie. He planned on marrying that girl. So nowadays when girls were involved he played a jokester as a way to protect his heart.

I groaned as I scratched my scruffy jaw. "Man you know not to call me that. Also take this seriously. Tone it down today."

"Alright. I will try, but seriously Jameson, why do you look so beat up after a night out with that sweet thing?" Even he could tell how innocent Emily was.

"Just too much in my head I guess. But come on, we need to go." I stated, then walked away before he could goad me for more information. Which was dumb on my part. Seeing we would be alone in my truck on the way to Emily's.

To my surprise he didn't talk though. Which was good and bad. I didn't wanna say too much about Emily when we were still getting to know each other. Yet Mac was the only one who knew of my past.

When we arrived to Emily's, the girls were sitting on the front porch. They came rushing towards my truck before Mac or I could even get out. Emily was in a white ruffled tank top, and a pair of cutoffs. Her long hair was braided today, and she looked like an angel. There was a pang in my chest at the sight of her. She flashed that perfect smile at me, and those emerald eyes lit up with such a genuine happiness.

I got out to open the back door for her and her friend. "Hi, I'm Amy. The best friend." Her smile was full of mischief, and I could easily see she was the wild child between the two. She had black hair that set just above her shoulders, and pale blue eyes. She had at least four inches on Emily, and climbed into the back of the cab like nobody's business.

I smiled back at her and said "Hi, I'm Jameson." She smiled again, then turned her attention to Mac.

Emily looked unsure of herself now that she was standing directly in front of me. I decided to just break the ice, and leaned down for a quick peck against her lips that tasted of watermelon. When we pulled away she smiled up at me again, and said a small "Hi", before I lifted her up into my truck.

Mac, and Amy held most of the conversation on the way to the watering hole. I could tell Mac liked her already. It only took about ten minutes to get there. It was on some friend of Emily's parents land. It was beautiful, and had a dock that lead to the water.

Once we were all out of the truck, the girls took off toward the dock, while Mac and I got the cooler and some fold up chairs. When I turned around to head toward the dock, that white ruffled tank top was coming off. Followed by those little cutoffs.

If I didn't know before, that was the dead giveaway that I was in trouble with this girl. Cause you see, she was everything pure underneath the sun. But in this case, I was the prodigal son. Wanting something so badly, but I had no desire to return home.
