If Taehyung's mind state had to be summarized and put in a nutshell, it could be called 'utter confusion'.
He must still be dreaming, or worse, he must be hallucinating.
Why else would he find himself back in his own room in his parents' house when he remembered being in the court like it had happened seconds ago?
'Oh, wait....I WAS DECLARED INNOCENT!!' his mind screamed at him and his eyes widened. Wasn't he supposed to go back home with his husband if he was no longer found guilty? What was happening?
Frowning, he got off his bed, but his legs immediately buckled, making him reach out for the table nearby in reflex. "Oh, god," he whispered and looked down, taking a deep breath to let his body catch up.
A few seconds later, a huge smile crept up his lips. A satisfied and relieved one.
Everything was done now. Yugyeom was gone, his accomplice, Jeongyeon, didn't hate him and his husband for his husband's crime anymore, they didn't have to live in constant fear anymore, they could relax and live freely now. Everything was finally fine in his and his husband's life.
He threw his head back and let his smile grow into a huge grin. Within seconds, that grin turned into a chuckle, which then turned to a few.
However, before those few chuckles could turn into full-blown happy laughter, his mother burst into the room, panting as if she ran all the way up to his room. She looked worried beyond belief.
"Are you okay?!" she exclaimed and rushed forward, cupping his face with her hands before he could say anything. "Oh, god, my tiger, you've been sleeping for so long, I was so worried, are you alright now?! Why were you laughing?! Did you finally lose your mind because of that bastard? Oh god, what am I gon-"
"Eomma, Eomma, chill, what on earth are you talking about? Just chill, I'm fine," he looked back and forth into both of her eyes, trying to find out why she sounded so worried.
"How can I chill," Dahyun looked down and it was then that Taehyung realized that she looked really close to bursting out crying. "H-How can I fucking chill knowing how much you h-had to go through after we gave you to that b-bastard...."
'Bastard.....?' Taehyung frowned. What did she mean she gave him to a bastard? Was she referring to Jeongguk?
"Eomma....what are you even talking abo-"
Dahyun sniffled and looked up at him, effectively cutting him off. "Come down, tiger. Let's get some food in you. We'll think about everything else later," she said and grabbed his wrist, pulling him along with her.
He didn't complain. He just followed her with a frown, which increased double-fold when she came to a sudden stop outside his room and turned around to face him once again. "Be careful with your father," she whispered, "he is super upset right now."
He gave her a judging look but nodded nonetheless. His mother knew his father's moods the best, after all.
"What time is it now?" he asked.
"Half-past eight. You hungry?" his mother replied and he frowned once again. Half-past eight in the morning or night? If it was night, it was fine, because the court case had happened earlier in the afternoon, but if it was in the morning, the amount of time he slept would have been shocking.
"I finished preparing dinner just a few minutes ago."
Okay, so it was night. Good.
He shook his head, saying he didn't want any food, but his stomach said otherwise. What a great moment to rumble like the world was coming to an end.
