Taehyung knew the second he parked his bike outside his house that evening that he was in trouble.
Because one - there was a car outside the house which screamed the fact that the lawyer was already there, and two - Jimin wasn't with him. If his father asked him where he was, what would he say?
He gulped as he took his helmet off, his previous enthusiasm disappearing into thin air. He did not want to get in knowing what he would have to do if he went in. But he also did not want to insult his father in front of the lawyer by not turning up at all.
Closing his eyes, he took a deep breath and hit the helmet with his knuckles just for the satisfaction of it.
"You can do it, Tae. You can do it. Hyung won't sign it anyway. It would be fi-"
"Tae, is that you outside?!" he heard his father from inside and jumped. 'Fuck, fuck, fck, fuck, fu-'
"Tae!"
"Yeah, yeah, coming!!" Taehyung exclaimed and rushed in. Not wanting to talk with the lawyer, or his father for that matter, he simply asked the lawyer to give him the papers that he was supposed to sign.
Wordlessly, the lawyer handed him the papers, pointing to the places where he was supposed to sign. Grabbing a pen nearby, Taehyung signed wherever he had to and without even bidding either of them goodbye, he went upstairs.
He had tried to remain positive about it the entire morning and afternoon, but now that he had actually signed the papers, he couldn't help but think negative. He couldn't make the huge lump in his throat go away. He couldn't stop his chin from wobbling like an aftereffect of an earthquake. He just couldn't hold any of it in.
In his haste to get behind closed doors, he didn't actually pay attention to his surroundings and ended up bumping into his sister, who lost her balance and fell on her ass. "Yah!!" she yelled with a groan and got up, dusting her ass simultaneously. "Where the fuck did your eyes-" she stopped when she actually took in her brother's state.
Taehyung had burst into tears the second he bumped into her, as if that was his last trigger, and squatted down with his face buried in his hands.
"Oppa....?" Taeyeon called out hesitantly and that just made Taehyung settle on the floor and lean against the wall with more sobs tearing out of his throat. His sister never addressed him as oppa. It was always Tae or 'yah' or 'idiot' or some other horrible word that pleased her at the moment. Never 'oppa'. And that just made him cry harder.
He supposed he was just really sensitive at the moment if something as small as his sister addressing him as oppa was making him more emotional than he already was.
"Yah, are you alright? Fuck, of course, you aren't," Taeyeon scooted closer to him and placed a hand on his shoulder. "Is this about the lawyer downstairs? Did you sign the papers? Is that why you are crying?!"
Taehyung just kept nodding and at some point, his sister engulfed him in a hug that felt extremely foreign to him. When on earth had he ever received a hug from her?
Still, it almost felt like everything he needed at the moment.
Almost.
It would have been better if it was his mother in his sister's place, and perfect if it was Jeongguk, but he knew both weren't possible. His parents couldn't come upstairs to comfort him until the lawyer left and Jeongguk.....well, Jeongguk wasn't even allowed to step into his house at the moment.
Taehyung supposed Taeyeon didn't know what to say, seeing as the one who could never shut up was just silently rubbing his back (a little awkwardly) at the moment.
