Taehyung and Jeongguk woke up to the loud cries of Dohyeon once again, a few hours after they fell asleep. With a groan, Taehyung got up and helped his husband up as well, and rushed upstairs to take care of Dohyeon.
Within no time, they were in the car, with Jeongguk leaning his forehead against the dashboard so as to not apply too much pressure on his back and Dohyeon strapped tight to the back seat.
Taehyung's hands trembled on the wheel, where the skin on his knuckles was almost about to burst from being stretched too hard.
There was literally a dead body right behind Dohyeon.
And it made him feel so ashamed, he just wanted to drive the car to the nearest cliff and drive all three of them off of it.
But he couldn't do it.
Why?
Because he loved his husband too much to kill him. Or to go and confess his crime to the police and cause trouble for Jeongguk or their companies.
They reached the Min-Jung household before they knew it and they slowly made their way towards the door with Dohyeon in Taehyung's arms.
Yoongi opened the door for them with bloodshot eyes and immediately hugged Jeongguk. Jeongguk shut his eyes tight from the pain it brought all over his torso, but his screwed eyes were misunderstood as agony by Hoseok.
Agony from losing two of their closest friends.
Taehyung was the only one who understood the actual meaning. "Hyung, please take Dohyeon, my arms are weirdly aching," he said and thankfully, before Hoseok could reach out for him, Yoongi pulled away from Jeongguk and took Dohyeon from Taehyung.
"Sit down. Or do you have to lea-"
Hoseok stopped talking upon stepping closer to them, finally noticing Jeongguk's face. And after a long time, a genuine smile cracked upon his lips, preceding a small chuckle as well.
"What's with the makeup?" he asked.
Jeongguk smiled tight, not bothering about how fake it must have seemed. Hoseok and Yoongi wouldn't get the actual reason behind the fakeness anyway.
"Taehyung wanted to try his hand on something to take my mind off of things," he said and looked over at Taehyung, who was smiling just as fake and tight as him.
"Hehe," Taehyung brought a shaking hand up to rub the back of his neck, but fortunately, the tremor in it went unnoticed.
"Okay, then, we'll get going. I don't know how long it might take, though, so....thank you for taking care of Doh-"
"Shh," Hoseok shut him off, "it's our duty to take care of him. That's the least we can do for Jin hyung and Nam..." he choked up again, something he had been doing all night, "....just go," he squeaked and turned around, throwing his head back to hold his tears back.
Of course, it didn't work.
Instead, it brought tears to the other three as well. Two for their loss and one because of the tears that he had been holding back ever since Hoseok mentioned Jeongguk's makeup.
"We'll jus-" Jeongguk's voice broke as well and he cleared his throat to try again, but Yoongi cut him off. "Are you okay to conduct the meeting from the company office in this state, though? I think it's better to take a couple of days off to get yourself together," he said.
He had received a call from Jeongguk that morning that he and Taehyung had to go to the company as there was some data in the office that Jeongguk needed for him to conduct that day's meeting with his subordinates.
