Techno knocked on Wilbur's bedroom door, tapping his foot on the ground. He had his arms crossed as Wilbur opened the door, glaring at him. Wilbur stared back at him blankly.
"What?"
"Where's Tommy?"
Wilbur stared at Techno in horror.
"I thought you had Tommy!"
Techno sighed, stepping to the side as Wilbur barged past him to search the house. Techno noticed how protective Wilbur was of Tommy now. He didn't really... like it. It seemed kinda unhealthy, for both of them. He pushed it out of his mind for now to follow Wilbur.
"Tommy?"
Wilbur dashed from room to room, yelling for Tommy. Techno decided Wilbur had the inside of the house covered and made his way outside. There, he found Tommy standing holding a sword. He stared at it, the blade pointed at his own face. Slowly, Techno approached. He spoke gently, drawing Tommy's gaze.
"Tommy, drop the sword."
Tommy's eyes focused on Techno, the sword still unwaveringly directed at his face. Techno took a few more steps closer to Tommy, holding out his hand. Tommy's eyes moved down to Techno's hand. He came to a decision, flipping the sword around skillfully and stabbing it into the ground. He turned to Techno, walking closer to him while maintaining eye contact. Techno stared back, on guard.
Slowly, Tommy's hands moved up to either side of Techno's face, gently tugging on Techno's cheeks. Techno stared at Tommy in confusion, until he felt the way that Tommy was tugging his cheeks. He gripped Tommy's hands, pulling them down and away from his face. They maintained eye contact as Techno forced himself to smile for Tommy. Tommy nodded, taking his hands back. He moved his hands up to his own face, pulling his mouth into a smile.
Techno's smile faded, and he gripped Tommy's wrists.
"Toms, you're fine the way you are. Did Wilbur do something?"
Tommy shrugged, still staring straight at Techno. Techno pulled a notepad out of his pocket with a pencil, passing it to Tommy. Tommy took them from him, staring at them, then back at Techno.
"Did Wilbur do anything?"
Tommy shrugged again. Techno and Tommy continued to stare at each other. Trying to understand what was going on in each other's minds.
Eventually, WIlbur found them. He rushed over to Tommy, pulling him into a hug.
"Tommy! Oh thank Prime you're safe, are you hurt anywhere?"
He pulled out of the hug, Tommy shaking his head. Wilbur sighed with relief, letting Tommy turn away from him.
"That's a relief, we wouldn't want the thing that happened the day that we all left you home alone to happen again, would we?"
Tommy pulled the sword out of the ground, flinching when Wilbur mentioned that day. Wilbur didn't seem to notice, grinning at him. He clapped him on the shoulder, taking the sword from Tommy.
"Come on, let's go inside. I'll make you some waffles, does that sound nice?"
Tommy nodded, following Wilbur inside, leaving Techno alone in the garden. He stared down at the ground where Tommy had been standing, narrowing his eyes. It seemed like there was some kind of circle.
Looking closer, Techno realized that the circle was surrounded by smiley faces, carved into the ground. They all stared up at him, taunting him. Dream was coming. And the Syndicate had to take both him and the government down.
----<>----
Jester was on patrol again. He had Slime scouting out for him, keeping an eye out for anyone who wanted to approach him. When you worked for every side that there was, you had to be alert about everyone.
Today, as he was passing through district 6, Slime alerted him of an incoming Dream. Jester sighed, but stopped where he was to wait for the fellow villain. He wasn't fond of him, but Dream usually gave him pretty fun jobs.
Slime popped up next to him, grinning at him and waving. Jester waved back at him with a little smile. They waited side by side in silence until Dream finally made his way to the rooftop that Jester and Slime had stopped on.
"Ugh these damn... stairs..."
Jester snorted as he watched him. Dream flipped him off as he straightened up, re-adjusting his mask.
"Hello Dream, got another mission?"
Dream nodded, still huffing a bit.
"Not- huff- exactly."
He held up a hand, signalling for Jester to give him a moment. Jester and Slime waited, Jester snickering and nudging Slime. Eventually, Dream straightened up to look at Jester and Slime.
"I'm here to tell you that there is going to be a war between the Syndicate and me, whatever villains I can gather, and the heroes. The syndicate is going to die by my hand."
Jester stared at Dream wide eyed. This had to be a joke. Something that big had to appear on the news at least. He rubbed his temples, trying to process what Dream had said.
"Whoah whoah whoa, what about the uh- the civilians? With a conflict that big, there's gotta be some civilian casualties."
Dream scoffed.
"Since when did you care about casualties? I know you like to stay neutral in big conflicts, but you need to pick a side."
Dream extended his hand to Jester. No matter who Jester chose to side with, he'd be seen as a traitor. He couldn't. He couldn't just choose one or the other.
That was until Slime stepped forward. He grasped Dream's hand with a grin.
"I'd be honoured to join you in this fight, Dream from district 10!"
Dream shook Slime's hand firmly, turning his attention to Jester.
"So? What will it be?"
Jester looked down at his hand, across to Slime, then back at Dream's mask. He stared, fighting his own mind over what direction he should go in. After a few minutes, he took a deep breath and stepped back, away from his enemies.
"Sorry Dream, but my Loyalties lie with the syndicate."
Dream stared at Jester for a little while longer before retracting his hand. He rested his hand on Slime's shoulder, who was looking between Jester and Dream with a confused frown on his face.
"So be it. I'll make sure that Schlatt fires you from your job too, Quackity."
And with that, he guided Slime down the stairs. Leaving Jester alone on the rooftop.
