It all happened extremely fast.
One moment everyone was waiting for Dream's people to attack. The next, a wave of civilians ran out from the city. A green haze floated above them, millions of green strings that glinted in the sun. Dolus's eyes widened and he backed up. He cleared his throat, taking a deep breath as they ran at him. He could vaguely hear people yelling up on top of the boat, but he pushed it out of his mind and focused on his voice.
"STOP!"
The civilians closest to him stopped running, the ones behind them surging on and crushing them beneath their feet. Dolus panicked, backing up to the edge of the dock. He glanced over at the murky water and grimaced. He glanced back at the people rushing him, muttering something under his breath and starting forward. He pushed the civilians to the sides, pulling a pair of knives out of his pockets and slashing at the green threads.
Everyone he freed freaked out, screaming and looking for their loved ones. Dolus passed out some knives to the calmer people, telling them to slash as many of the green threads as they could. He made his way through the crowd, carving a path by using the freed civilians as a barrier between him and the ones still under Dream's control.
He swallowed thickly, his throat dry after using his power. Dream was killing hundreds with this attack, was he really that determined to get Tommy back?
He made his way to the back of the crowd, eventually at the buildings near the dock.
Curiously, none of them moved to attack him. He glanced around, searching for Dream. Icarus was dropping people onto the rooftops where Vixen, Timer and Warden watched the chaos with unreadable expressions on their faces. He stared at VIxen for a couple seconds longer.
Vixen looked to be in his early thirties now.
Dolus turned away, searching the landscape for the source of the green threads. Someone ran towards the ship, a string attached to the back of their head. Dolus grabbed the string and sliced it, keeping one hand on the string as he followed it deeper into the city.
Up on the rooftops, Spore was searching for Dream as well. He tipped his mushroom hat back, his gaze sweeping across the rooftops. While the rest of the villains seemed to be approaching, Dream was nowhere.
Spore stepped towards the edge of the rooftop, looking over to see if Dream was commanding his army from the ground. He leaned forward, resting his hands on the railing until he felt a hand on his back.
He froze. The person next to him leaned forward, whispering in his ear.
"Hey George."
Thanatos was engaged with The Warden. He was a formidable enemy, strong and intelligent. However, so was Thanatos. He dodged a punch from the Warden, swinging his axe at him. Warden grabbed the axe blade with his armoured hand, tugging it out of Thanatos's hands and punching Thanatos in the gut. Thanatos grunted, stepping back and out of range of The Warden.
"Thanatos, stand down."
Thanatos scoffed, swaying a bit but turning his foot, bending his knees slightly and assuming a defensive positon.
"No you, dweeb."
Meanwhile, Icarus was flying above the boat, searching for Dolus with a worried frown on his face. He scanned the crowd of civilians, hoping desperately that Dolus hadn't been stamped on.
He knew that Dolus was strong, but he couldn't help but be scared for his son. He flew over the crowd, cutting as many of the strings as he could while he looked for Dolus. He scanned the faces of everyone he passed, eventually flying up again so that he wouldn't fly into any buildings.
Icarus turned back to the crowd to swoop again, but Bee dropped down from above. He grinned at Icarus, his eyes glowing green.
"Hey there Phil~"
Icarus swore, turning and trying to fly away from Bee. The boy tutted and zipped around in front of Icarus.
"Ah ah ah... If you fly away right now I'll bomb the crowd and kill all those civillians, as well as precious, perfect Wilbur."
Icarus stopped, staring sadly at Bee. He reached slowly towards Bee, who stared at him with a smile frozen on his face. Icarus gently cupped Bee's cheek in his hand.
"Kid... I'm so sorry. Did Schlatt let him do this?"
Bee stared back at Icarus, his eye twitching a little bit. Icarus's eyes flicked up to see the green thread attached to Bee's head and his wing swept around, severing the connection. Bee gasped, his wings stuttering and he began to fall.
Far, far away across the city, Dream walked casually along the street. Anyone he saw, he sent towards the Syndicate Base. Men, women, children, others of questionable gender, no one was excluded from the death run. He watched the house numbers, eventually stopping outside a familiar house. He stared up at it, smiling softly.
Inside the house, Tommy looked up from the mask in his hands as he felt someone disturb the threads he had placed around the house.
Dolus ran.
George spun around.
Techno coughed.
Phil dove down.
Dream smiled.
Tommy put the mask down.
