Despite the closed window curtain, the room was bright enough to lead on that it was midafternoon. Leah only noticed this because she was hyperaware — she was trying desperately to focus on anything other than the drip in the IV bag over her head.

"Don't think about it."

She looked down at Jungkook and released a deep shaky breath that contrasted with his soft puffs. They were laying in bed facing each other so she could see his relaxed expression as he tried resting. They were squeezed together because it was an individual bed and he wanted to take a nap. In truth, Leah knew he could have taken the chair or even stayed in Namjoon's bedroom. But he was there with her, holding hands quietly so close together they couldn't move or they would fall, because he didn't want to leave her alone.

She eyed his tattooed fingers around hers and quickly her eyes followed her arm upwards to where the catheter was. There was a needle inside her vein, and it linked to a tube and if she followed it—

Her breathing shook as her stomach twisted harshly.

"Hey," he squeezed her hand gently and her eyes fell back down. His brown eyes were carefully observing her. "Let's try to get some sleep."

She watched as he immediately adjusted the pillow and closed his eyes. She found his voice soothing, she noticed. She took a deep breath to try and mimic his relaxation, but it wasn't working. Now that everything was quiet and calm, she could tell she was crashing. Yes, it was bound to happen, especially with having only eaten one miniscule cereal bar, but it was still frustrating. And scary.

"I'm afraid," she murmured. She hated giving away her weakness, but at the same time she didn't care. She didn't have to impress him and he had already seen her worst, and he seemed cool with it.

He opened his eyes and just looked at her in silence, waiting. She took a deep breath, impatience bubbling easily on the wave of her exhaustion. Unknowingly, she was pouting.

"I'm afraid of falling asleep," she completed, still barely over a whisper. "What if this is all a dream? What if I wake up and I'm still in that place?" He squeezed her hand a bit. "What if I wake up and you're gone?"

He was ready to debunk all of it, but then he frowned with her last words. "I'm not going anywhere."

She smirked weakly and shook her head. His frown deepened, he was offended she didn't believe him. He was going to say something about it, but she continued.

"What if it's all real?" He closed his mouth. "What if I have permanent damage, because who knows what they did to me?" Her voice was tightening in her throat and he moved infinitely closer to her, despite being glued to her already. "What if my memory never comes back?"

"It will, I'm sure of it." Her expression wavered when she heard his voice and tone. When Ella said it, she didn't believe it, but for some reason when he said it, she believed it could happen. "It's all real." He was so close she felt his faint breath on her face. "I'm here now, and when you wake up I'll still be here. You're a strong person, you'll recover for sure."

She furrowed her brows but couldn't help a smile at his words. He smiled too.

"I never properly thanked you for getting me out of there," she said, and he turned to look at the ceiling. "I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you," her voice wavered with her emotions. It was a bit embarrassing, but it couldn't be helped. "I will be forever grateful—"

"Stop," he said, turning back to her. His expression was serious and she was confused. "I owe you my life just as much. Or even more, without Namjoon, I..." now it was his voice that faded.

"Is he...?" She didn't seem to know how to finish it

"He's family." He declared, looking at her a bit defensively.
