A.N. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hi, hello, hi!! 😁 I'm so excited to be back! I have not finished writing Far Cry yet (it keeps getting bigger, I'm maybe two chapters out), but I'm ready to post - I've reached a checkpoint, sort to speak 😋 Thank you to everyone who encouraged me and waited patiently! Now let's get Taehyung!

Jungkook lay in bed in the night, blinking calmly, with no hints of sleepiness. The trawler's lull was gentle as it sailed across the ocean, and it was quiet — the type of calmness that wouldn't let on the way the air was slowly charging with tension. It was the calm before the storm.

Leah moved belly up in his arms, and he pressed a long kiss to her temple. He was glad they had that opportunity to rest; Lamar had promptly told him he and Carlos would keep watch. One look at Leah was enough to tell she was shaken, and another at Jungkook told Lamar that he was tense. So Jungkook took the time to arrange a room below deck for them to lay down and sleep for a bit.

Though she had said she wouldn't be able to sleep. But he had simply snuggled up to her and sighed. "Just close your eyes and try, aein."

Now, so many hours later, they were entering the early morning hours, and he was happy they had at least slept. They were sailing straight to Mamizu Island and to what he wished was the final destination where he could tear Tae from Stella's clutches. He didn't know when they would arrive, so once he was awake, all he could do was lay there in Leah's hold and let his mind wander. At least the night was calm; he hoped Lamar and Carlos had managed to get some shuteye, too.

But Leah was awake now, too, and Jungkook pressed his lips harder to the side of her head.

"Are we arriving soon?"

Her voice was as hoarse as he replied, "I don't know."

They both stayed quiet with the soft sway of the ocean and eyes used to the dark, neither too eager to go out and ask if it meant breaking away from that moment too soon.

Instead, he dropped his lips to her head, letting the gentleness of the ocean's lull and the comfort relax him for just a little longer.

"I won't stop getting butterflies, I get 'em every time I look into your eyes," his voice was sweet as he sang and hummed, even as she pulled away to look at him. "You won't stop running through my mind for the rest of both our lives; you give me butterflies."

He brought her hand to his chest, and she teared up as she looked down at that sweet point where his love bloomed.

Her lips twitched as she let his words sink in; it wasn't on purpose, but it touched exactly what made her anxious.

"Is it terrible that... I'm scared again," she whispered and looked at him, who brought her bandaged hand to his lips.

"No."

He brushed her fingers gently; the bandage around her hand and knuckles was supposed to help her since she had punched a guy in the face when they took over the boat. But it didn't keep the pain away, nor did his kisses over where the tattoo ring should be, unfortunately.

"I trust us, I know we can do it," she explained, pressing his arm closer around her middle. "I just have... a bad feeling."

Her head tilted back on the pillow so she could see his eyes better, and he simply eyed her back. She could guess he wasn't talkative, but he wasn't sleeping either, and she needed to get that off her chest.

"It feels like all or nothing," she started, with glistening eyes, even in the dark. "Like going into the evil queen's lair. Like kicking a hornet's nest." She swallowed dryly, and he remained quiet. "Remember... Remember that day when we went out into the jungle looking for a radio and information? Back, way back, when I killed that guy threatening you." Her brow furrowed, and he nodded. "I had this dream then that I was alone and scared in the middle of the jungle after something terrible happened."
