Jungkook's eyes snapped open. The sun was shining through the window, and he sat up as fast as a coil springing. He didn't remember falling asleep; when had the sun come up? But more importantly...
He rubbed his face and brushed the hair out of his eyes as he looked around. Had it been a dream?
He pushed the covers off and got shoes on before making his way out. Details from last night were too vivid in his mind to have possibly been made up; after all, they were the reason he thought he wouldn't be able to sleep. Though perhaps that was precisely how he was finally able to-
"Wait up!"
His sneakers squeaked on the grey linoleum floor as he stopped his sprint down the hallway. Jin had just shouted at him to stop and out from the same room came all the others, one by one, with Jimin last in a wheelchair.
"Is it true?" Hobi asked with an expectant smile.
"Is what true?" Jungkook asked, agitated.
"That Leah is awake," Yoongi clarified.
"Tae was just telling us he saw her last night and left her in your room," Jimin explained with a cheeky smile.
"Don't tell me you didn't see her?" Jin couldn't help but snort at Jungkook's wide doe eyes.
Taehyung hummed behind Jimin, closing the door with one hand while pushing the wheelchair with the other. "I don't think she would have left without seeing him."
"You saw her too?" Jungkook asked eagerly. "When?"
"Last night at the entrance asking the guards to let her in," Taehyung revealed, and Jungkook instantly bristled.
"They didn't let her in?!"
"Jungkookie, calm down," Hoseok patted his shoulder with a chuckle.
"It's not because you talk about her that they know who she is," Jin scoffed, shaking his head disapprovingly in a tease. Jungkook pouted, and Jin continued, "Now, let's go see if she spoke of you to her people."
His hyung patted his shoulder as they all moved past him down the hallway. Jungkook only whispered, "She promised."
He followed quickly after them, whining about taking the elevator when he needed to run. Yet when Jimin scolded him, he got on in a flash. Once the metal doors opened again, he pushed his hyung's wheelchair and rushed by patients and staff alike down the hallway on the way to Leah's wing.
Then, he halted when he saw Finneas pacing around in front of the wing's entrance. His hyungs stopped behind him as well, and Jimin glanced up. Jungkook looked instantly serious, with a belligerent expression they had only seen on him since the island. Jimin almost told him to keep his cool, but the maknae was already pushing his wheelchair forward.
In truth, Jimin had no reason to worry. Jungkook might have had the instinct to fight, but he knew better than to let that part of him out. It had been harder before; he just wanted to see his wife, who was in intensive care. He felt in the right but had no option but to stay quiet and wait. Now, he finally didn't have to fight, argue, or accept. Leah was awake, and she wanted to see him, too.
Finneas perked up when he saw Jungkook and sighed, "Finally." However, when he looked at the whole group, he raised his hands and shook his head apologetically. "You have to listen to me first."
"She wants to see me," Jungkook simply stated, and Finneas agreed and greeted the others with a nod.
"I know, she made it very clear. It's not that." Finneas swallowed dryly, and Jungkook finally noticed that he looked pale.
