Leah's eyelashes fluttered with the first rays of morning, and she sighed. She hugged Jungkook closer to her, and he mimicked her, burying his face just a little more above her head, into the pillow. Her eyes closed again, comforted by his scent, but she didn't linger. If he was hugging her, that meant that he wasn't sleeping.
She moved away gently, and he whined, "No."
"No?"
She brushed the hair out of his eyes, insistent on staying closed.
"No. Not yet."
She stayed quiet, just observing his sweet puffy features as he refused to wake up. It wasn't hard to guess why he wanted, or even needed a few more minutes, and truth be told, so did she.
The night had slipped by like grains of sand between their fingers while they discussed with Ethan, Franklin, Lamar and Aaden. At first, she had to stand her ground, and she was thankful that Jungkook agreed with her completely. The idea to go to Numani and then get on a boat to reach Thurston Town had more reasons to flop than to work. Even as Ethan and Franklin tried to explain that it was a flawless plan, the problems remained the same: Stella could catch wind of it, it could go wrong and leave them unable to go further, and it could injure them.
Aaden and Lamar agreed on a few points, and so suggestions began popping up. Maybe the Numani attack should happen only after they had destroyed Thurston Town, or maybe it should happen at the same time. They all agreed the cover of night would be beneficial, and that a small team would suffice to get Taehyung and back out, which was the priority. Leah insisted that if they could grab him and leave without being noticed, they should take that chance, and no one opposed.
Finally, they agreed on the order of events, but things weren't fully set yet.
"The question is where will you get the boat to reach the island?"
Lamar stepped forward to point at an abandoned red pin on Ethan's map, "I have a suggestion. Lonely Shore Way Outpost."
"The dock is small," Ethan scratched his chin.
"We only need one small boat," Lamar shrugged. "We never took it because it didn't justify the effort, but with me and Leah, it's ours in minutes."
"Why?" Jungkook frowned.
"It's a fairly big outpost, it should have about eight or ten defenders, and normally the cliff protects them pretty well. But," he grinned and pointed to the south. "If you know where to go, there's a way of snipping them before their sniper even knows we're there. They have three alarms, so speed is essential, but again — me and Leah can do it." He straightened back up, confident, "We can do most of the damage and confrontation should be minimal."
"But what if they don't have a big enough vessel?" Aaden insisted. "We still need to sail twenty-five miles."
"You know smugglers pass nearby," Lamar raised an eyebrow.
"Isn't that bad?" Leah frowned.
"Or good, if you take their boat," Ethan raised an eyebrow, unable to hide a sly undertone.
"And if they don't pass that night?" Aaden insisted.
Jungkook huffed impatiently and Leah raised her voice, "Then they don't. We can't control everything."
Aaden's lips twitched, "You can't swim that far. Those waters have sharks too."
She grinned, "I don't plan to. Let's focus on the rest."
"Like what?" Jungkook pursed his lips, and Ethan nodded.
"Like who should go."
"And timings," Aaden added. "You better be ready to face the jungle, because to get that far north unnoticed, you can't use a car."
